ROLE OR PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The M&E Specialist will support the Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) team in enhancing the quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of data collection systems. This includes the design, management, analysis, and interpretation of data to inform impact and learning for VA’s routine programs and implementation research efforts. The role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams, primarily in Asia, to use data to inform programmatic decision-making and improve outcomes.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The M&E Specialist will be responsible for the following:
- Provide technical assistance to support the design and implementation of data collection activities, including contributing to the development of research protocols, data collection tools, and analysis plans.
- Coordinate data collection activities, including training staff, managing data collection processes, and ensuring data quality and integrity.
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative data management, analysis, interpret findings, and prepare reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders for routine programmatic M&E and implementation research projects.
- Support data consolidation, review, and management of data for grant-funded projects.
- Contribute to the dissemination of research findings through the preparation of manuscripts, reports, presentations, and other publications.
- Conduct monitoring visits to program partners across the Asia region.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in public health, development, health economics, or a related field
- Minimum five years hands-on experience engaged in data management and analysis in public health programming
- Strong quantitative analysis skills (e.g. descriptive and inferential statistics) and demonstrated experience in data collection, cleaning, and management using statistical software (e.g. ODK Collect, Stata, SAS, SPSS, R, etc.)
- Experience with mapping and/or visualization software (e.g. ArcGIS, Tableau)
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, with excellent organizational abilities
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment
- Ability to manage stress, including but not limited to stress resulting from local and foreign travel, large crowds, open spaces, shared office space, and daily activities
- Ability to remain seated for extended periods of time, including but not limited to prolonged air travel and general job assignments performed at a desk
- Must have the ability/desire to travel internationally
Preferred (not required):
- Knowledge of global health and nutrition issues, and prior experience working in low- and middle-income countries in a similar capacity/role is highly desirable
- Experience in qualitative analysis and data management, using software such as ATLAS.ti, Dedoose etc., is desirable
