Job Description Summary
This role is responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans for sales and marketing execution for the Life Sciences portfolio across Australia and New Zealand. This entails the responsibility of the management and coordination of the marketing team to meet the annual revenue and profitability budget as well as medium and long-term strategic planning and execution to build a sustainable business.
R esponsibilities:
Assist in the achievement of the annual Life Sciences revenue and gross profit targets for ANZ.
Assist in achievement of OIBO business commitments by controlling expenses to meet budget guidelines and deliver marketing activities within agreed budget.
Provide input into the development and execution of the overall business objectives and strategies. Participate in the development of the annual budget, providing input into the final budget.
Adoption of the BD ANZ Way of Marketing through leadership of the Marketing team, develop and deliver effective business and segment specific strategies for the attainment of the annual budgetary goals. Such strategies will address issues of resource, strategic implementation, and business development opportunities.
Conduct market research to determine market requirements for existing and future products.
Coordinate Product Managers to launch products as per marketing strategies, support product demonstrations/trials/evaluations, nurture KOLs to develop local publications that support the selling effort.
Manage and coordinate the Product Managers and their activities in line with business imperatives.
Through the Product Managers, develop pricing strategies to guide the selling effort and generate profitable business. Develop tools to support the selling process – financial spreadsheets, quotation and proposal templates, and marketing collateral.
Ensure regular and timely submission of all reports as required financial updates and progress against strategic programs. Perform these analyses as seen as necessary for the efficient operation and control of the business.
Maintain a high level of market knowledge and remain up to date with changes in the business environment and relevant technologies that may be on the rise. Ensure such information is appropriately reported.
Maintain key opinion leader relationships and knowledge to stay up to date with market trends and direction and building the presence for BD Life Sciences.
Responsible for the project management of the attendance of Life Sciences at all local and regional industry meetings. Through leadership of the Product Managers and collaboration with other Life Sciences associates, ensure the marketing efforts of Life Sciences at industry symposia are in line with the agreement business imperatives.
Own the Tender process. Coordinate Product Managers to drive the tender process, by liaising with other Life Sciences associates and Shared Services to ensure the tender response positions Life Sciences to win.
Own the S&OP process. Coordinate Product Managers to provide accurate forecasts to the Operational Team (customer service, finance, inventory planner etc) so that there is a seamless alignment to ensure the total delivery of BD Life Sciences products and services.
Collaborate with the Product Specialists and Key Account Managers to determine appropriate sales programs and product training programs that develop technical skills and sales skills necessary to develop productive relationships with all current and prospective customers.
Participate in all local and regional management meetings as directed with ongoing connectivity to the global BD Life Sciences strategies. This may require occasional international travel.
Spend at least 20% of time in the field with sales associates understanding how marketing imperatives are playing out in the field.
Maintain high level of engagement with key market stakeholders, such as associations, Government and Government groups/offices, industry bodies, key accounts etc.
Adhere to the requirements of the Quality Management System as maintained by BD ANZ.
Knowledge and Experience:
Strong management of business and segment activity and analytical skills to evaluate the issues and opportunities affecting the business.
Degree level qualified in the sciences or a related field and supplemented by a post grad business qualification.
Minimum of 7 years’ experience in marketing and sales is desirable.
Effective analytical and problem-solving skills along with planning and time management are required.
Good written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated team leadership and group presentation skills.
Base financial management skills will be necessary.
Captial equipment, instrumentation and consumables experience would be preferred
