Job Title: Marketing and Communications Executive
Salary: £25,000
Hours: Full time (37.5 hours)
Location: Virtual / Home worker
Responsible to: Marketing and Communications Manager

Noting the nature of an National Governing Body, the role may require work outside of normal business hours including weekends.

Job Purpose
 Create and manage digital content across multiple platforms including websites, social media and email marketing.

 Write content to amplify good news stories, shout about our achievements and deliver engaging content to make it appealing to wide ranging audiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Write content and produce graphics for social media channels and schedule posts via the Hootsuite platform.
  • Help to maintain and grow our social media presence and drive engagement across the channels by generating innovative content and analysing using recognised techniques.
  • Monitor, listen and where appropriate respond to what is being said via social media channels.
  • Generate content and creative for email communications and send out to agreed lists, ensuring correct data segmentation is applied.
  • Ensure new content is uploaded to the British and England websites and that they are both kept up to date with correct links and reviewing/archiving old content as required.
  • Help to develop and deliver an effective and appropriate digital communication programme including web, email and social media by researching other NGBs/sporting organisations and making recommendations for improvement.
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of campaigns that drive people to participate or engage in the sports and the wider strength, fitness and health sector.
  • Devise, produce and distribute creative, high quality, accessible digital content (including digital images, graphics, video, audio and web-friendly copy).
  • Support the competition and performance teams by developing and posting athlete-led content pre, during and post competitions.
  • Ensure consistent and accurate use of the British and England brands.
  • Manage a range of new projects where required, sometimes working autonomously.
  • Ensure efficient administration, file management/archiving and produce regular updates and reports.
  • Support the wider business with any projects requested.
  • Demonstrate commitment and behaviours in line with the BWL values.

Person Specification

The person specification describes the experience, qualifications, knowledge, skills and abilities that BWL are looking for.

Essential skills/experience are:

  • At least two years’ digital marketing and communications experience with a relevant qualification
  • Knowledge and experience in producing high quality and engaging content for social media channels
  • Experience in managing social media accounts, CMS systems and analytical tools
  • Experience using Adobe Office Suite (Photoshop and InDesign) or Canva oar similar online design tool
  • Good attention to detail
  • Strong time management skills
  • Team player with a collaborative attitude
  • Self-starter and ability to work autonomously to get the job done
  • Strong knowledge in Microsoft Office products
  • A current driving licence

Desirable skills/experience are:

  • Experience or understanding of weightlifting, para-powerlifting and/or the wider strength and fitness sector
  • Videography and video editing skills
