As an External Communications Manager you will support and deliver the implementation, coordination and execution of communication planssupporting GSK’s vaccines business.

This role added to current structure will give the team a balance between senior strategic roles and operational roles to deliver comprehensive communications strategies to support business needs appropriately in line with business expectations while providing team members with flexibility and development opportunities.

Working with the (BU) Business Units Comms team, agency partner and subject matter experts across the business, this role will help to implement and coordinate execution of our communications plans:

Work with relevant Communications Head / Director to develop and execute communications plans aligned to business priorities, key assets in the BU portfolio, as well as emerging pipeline assets, including working with business leaders on activities to support business priorities for individual assets (like disease state awareness and approval and launch communications plans for assigned assets/products and brands). Disease state awareness work may include RSV, shingles, flu, meningitis, hepatitis or support for other priority brands. Also assist in developing brand story and broader communications objectives across internal and external channels.

Manage implementation of communication plans with agency partner (project management), including coordinating with cross functional internal stakeholders for approval processes.

Implement digital and social media plans defined by team leaders in support of the business (coordination with US Digital team, getting materials approved, report metrics).

Help develop and implement internal comms in a coordinated way, with direction from leaders in the team and collaborating with US and Global Communications teams members as needed.

Collaborate with Global Communications team in the business unit on their plans regarding key data and regulatory milestone press releases, disease awareness activities and other activities to support key business objectives.

Working with agency partner and corporate media team to track and analyze media coverage.

Manage the implementation and tracking of key projects to support business objectives, including managing against budgets, deadlines and reporting progress and outcomes.

Collaborate with other BU communications managers to learn on best practices, bring forward new/innovative ideas for team consideration and improve the team’s processes.

Contribute to a range of other internal and external projects – the ability to work on multiple projects at once in a dynamic environment is crucial and part of the fast-paced environment and nature of the role.

Why you?
Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Communications or Public Health or liberal arts focus (e.g., English/writing, government/history).

4+ years of relevant external and internal communications experience.

Min 2 years with specific experience in Vaccines or pharmaceuticals.

Demonstrated expertise in at least three of the following areas:
Strategic Planning.
Disease awareness campaign development/management experience
Excellent communications track-record.
S rong interpersonal skills with multiple and diverse stakeholders
(Including senior stakeholders).
Proven experience developing content across a range of platforms and media (digital-friendly, visual/storytelling style, such as videos and infographics); versatility in creating both branded and unbranded content and willingness to innovate.

Preferred Qualifications:

The following characteristics are a plus:

Specific experience in Vaccines or priority disease state areas (RSV, shingles, flu, meningitis, hepatitis) strongly preferred.

Candidate must be able to work independently and respond to a dynamic, fast paced environment. Additional training/education in communications, business or healthcare.
