JOB SUMMARY
The Manager, Advocacy and Communication will be responsible for leading and coordinating all advocacy initiatives in IMC Syria, focusing on humanitarian access to provide and support uninterrupted assistance to the most vulnerable populations. The role includes representing International Medical Corps in relevant forums, co-leading the Humanitarian Access Workstream with other INGOs, and developing strategic communication efforts to support these initiatives.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Advocacy Strategy Development: Develop and implement an effective advocacy strategy aligned with IMC’s strategic direction and humanitarian principles to enhance humanitarian access in Syria.
- Representation: Represent IMC in national and international forums, sectors, and working groups to advocate for humanitarian access and coordinate with other INGOs and stakeholders.
- Co-Lead Humanitarian Access Workstream: Co-lead the Humanitarian Access Workstream, working collaboratively with other INGOs to address access challenges and develop joint initiatives.
- Communication: Develop and execute a comprehensive communication strategy to support advocacy efforts, including drafting proposals, position papers, and reports.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, donors, and international organizations, to facilitate advocacy initiatives.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor and report on the progress of advocacy initiatives, including preparing regular updates and reports for senior management and donors.
- Capacity Building: Provide training and capacity-building support to IMC staff and partners on advocacy and communication best practices.
- Research and Analysis: Conduct research and analysis on humanitarian access issues and trends to inform advocacy strategies and actions.
- Compliance: Ensure all advocacy and communication activities comply with IMC policies and procedures, as well as local laws and regulations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in international relations, communication, political science, or a related field is required; a master’s degree in a related field is preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in advocacy, public policy, or communications within the humanitarian sector.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing advocacy strategies.
- Experience in representing organizations in high-level forums and working groups.
- Strong understanding of the socio-economic and political context in Syria.
- Previous experience working in Syria, or a similar context is preferred.
- Experience with capacity-building initiatives is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Familiarity with IMC’s operations and strategic priorities is preferred.
- Knowledge of international humanitarian law and principles is preferred.
- Strong analytical and research skills.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken); proficiency in Arabic is highly desirable.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Must be eligible to work in Syria.
- Willingness to travel within Syria and internationally as required
