About Our Role

• Permanent shift based position (the role will commence in a Mon-Fri day work arrangement until site competencies achieved)

• Opportunity to work on a unique array of food processing fixed-plant & equipment

• Base hourly rates from $40.59 – $46.13 negotiable upon experience & certifications (+15% afternoon shift allowance / +30% night shift allowance) with weekend penalty rates + OT (where available)

An opportunity exists for the full-time, permanent position of Maintenance Electrician as part of our Maintenance team at Simplot Devonport. Simplot Devonport is amongst the last producers of scale of frozen vegetables in Australia and has a proud history in the local community since 1942. We employ over 300 people and process products including peas, beans, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower and onions that are grown by our local Tasmanian growers and pride ourselves on providing premium quality products to our customers.

What You Will Do

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Electrician will perform maintenance activities (planned / opportunity / breakdown) of fixed plant and equipment to align with the site’s Maintenance & Production schedules in support of optimising plant reliability, improving employee safety and continuous improvement activities. This role is a permanent opportunity, commencing on Monday to Friday day work, upon completion of site competencies – the role will move into a shift-based roster (incl. day / afternoon / night over a 7 day operating model).

Working closely with the wider Engineering team (incl. Electrical / Eng / Control Systems) in addition to the Production team- this hands on, technical role will provide mechanical expertise to Simplot Devonport’s operations to;

• Identify faults and perform breakdown repairs to minimise downtime and micro-stops caused by production machinery and equipment

• Inspect, test and maintain machinery & equipment in production areas and the wider plant

• Work with PLC and electronically controlled system diagnostics, fault finding, programming and connections

• Perform general plant and building maintenance work

• Undertake specific project work upon request

• Perform assigned tasks in accordance with all Simplot Safety, Environmental, Health and Safety programmes and goals

• Utilise MEX CMMS to update work orders, search asset history and advise on any maintenance trends or opportunity for improvement and innovation

• Take part in continuous improvement (CI) activities

About You

• Possess a 100% commitment to health, safety and wellbing in the workplace

• Hold a Cert III Electrotechnology (or equivalent)

• Demonstrated diagnostic, fault finding and trouble shooting skills

• Electrical related manufacturing / FMCG experience will be highly regarded

• Experience in safety & quality systems and procedures

• Ability to read and interpret schematics (advantageous)

• Sound judgment and decision making ability

• Possess a high level of both written and verbal communication skills in addition to time management skills

• Intermediate user of Windows-based systems and software

• Ability to work proactively whilst unsupervised whilst also being able to work within a team environment

• Willingness to undergo a pre-employment medical (incl. urine based drug & alcohol screening)
