Maintenance and Engineering Manager – County Offaly.Job Summary:Reporting to the Site Operation Manager the maintenance and engineering manager is a key member of the site team. The role has responsibility for the maintenance and engineering management of the site, and will ensure equipment, plant and property are efficiently operating to maximise production output. As part of the management team, the manager will involve themselves in day to business activities, keeping close to operational issues and requirements and managing projects and continuous improvement activities. The Maintenance and Engineering Manager is responsible for managing reactive & preventive maintenance on site managing both internal teams, contractors, 3rd party maintenance. The role plans and oversees all repair and installation activities. It ensures compliance with maintenance processes & procedures, maintenance schedules. It delivers on agreed KPI’s of plant availability, effectiveness and costs; and in the deployment of best processes and practices.Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that the site manufacturing equipment performance meets or exceeds all required KPI’s.
  • Provide strategies to ensure all technician training has been identified and support the ongoing skills enhancement of members of Maintenance teams
  • Ensure planned preventative maintenance is executed to plan and plans are in place to ensure regulatory conformance always
  • Periodic maintenance systems review, identification and execution of continuous improvement projects focused on equipment performance, application of best practice maintenance strategies to sustain these improvements long-term
  • Ensure all maintenance work performed on site meets Health & Safety and Quality requirements
  • Drives the Maintenance and Reliability initiative focused on Preventive & Predictive Maintenance.
  • Overall responsibility for the adherence for site Maintenance Department budget.
  • Owner of planning systems Maintenance Function
  • Managing maintenance technician group
  • Managing, maintaining, and establishing maintenance procedures for production lines in a GMP manufacturing environment to ensure production meets or performs better than budget.
  • Support plant optimisation across production, filling and packing, utilities and intake.
  • Establish performance standards and optimise performance across all processes in the plant
  • Engage with stakeholders including Quality and Production teams in the prioritisation, development, design and testing of new or enhanced processes
  • Work with Production team to plan and execute agreed changes
  • Utilise data insights to recommend interventions to drive performance
  • Troubleshooting issues and identifying opportunities to enhance plant performance and drive KPI improvement
  • Manage utilities

Interested applicants should have:

  • A sound, hands-on, mechanical and electrical knowledge of equipment, including refrigeration, conveyers and packaging
  • Previous experience of managing and leading maintenance teams, ideally in a food manufacturing or pharmaceutical environment
  • Previous experience of using and managing preventive maintenance systems
  • Strong troubleshooting/problem solving skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Flexible and adaptable with a strong work ethic. Able to respond effectively under pressure and meet deadlines. Ability to comply with existing/quickly adapt to new processes within the organisation.
  • Proven working experience in maintenance and project management
  • Good communication and influencing skills.
  • Proven organisational skills/ability to work on own initiative.
  • Ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Results driven, customer focused with high performance capability in a fast moving challenging business environment
  • Demonstrate strong technical ability and attention to detail to do the job at a high level of accomplishment
  • Experience of managing, coaching and developing a team. Leading a team to high performance levels.
