FTE: 1.0 fte (working 37 hours per week)Salary: UH7 Lecturer £37,099pa to £44,263pa depending on skills and experienceAnnual Leave: 35 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New YearLocation: College Lane Campus, HatfieldMain duties and responsibilitiesYou will undertake teaching and assessment in engineering and technology modules, at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, across all Engineering programmes. You will also support learning through design and development of course materials including online content and undertaking necessary tutorial, laboratory and administrative activities.Skill and experience requiredYou must have experience of working in the subject area within Higher Education or in a relevant sector. In addition to this, you will need proven experience of teaching and tutoring at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level. You will have demonstrable proven experience in industrial, academic or research. You will have a breadth and dept of specialist knowledge in the subject discipline that has been developed from previous higher education or industrial sector experience, this expertise will support you to successfully deliver teaching and develop new programmes. You will be willing to contribute to the wider development of subjects, for example, teaching in a secondary subject area, organising and supporting activities like laboratory development, and student recruitment including open days and outreach events. You must have a strong commitment to teaching, learning and student support at university level and a potential willingness to attract external funding. You will have demonstrable proficiency in English Language, with excellent oral, written and presentation skills that will support teaching at undergrad and postgrad level. You must have a strong commitment to motivating and engaging our students in the subject area and facilitating their learning via a range of delivery techniques. You will be effective within a team setting and will make a positive contribution to team functions whilst building good working relationships. As well as your demonstrable ability to work well within a team you must also be able to work on your own initiative. We will also expect from you a willingness to develop module and programme level material whilst also demonstrating a commitment to continuous improvement and to undertake professional qualifications where appropriate.Qualifications requiredEducated with a degree (or equivalent) in a relevant Engineering or related subject area.A PhD (or equivalent qualification), or close to completion of PhD (no more than 3 months prior to viva) in a relevant Engineering or related subject area is highly desirable for Lecturer.Please view the job description and person specification for a full list of the duties and essential criteria.
