Applications are invited for a specified purpose post of a Lecturer/Assistant Professor of Environmental History within UCD School of History. The School of History is seeking to appoint a lecturer to a three-year post in modern Environmental History. The School has recently expanded its teaching provision and research expertise in global and environmental history. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing these teaching initiatives and pursue their own research projects. The School particularly welcomes applications from historians working on environmental history and with a focus on South/Southeast/East Asia, including knowledge of relevant languages for research. The post is funded via the ERC Starter Grant `Land Limits’ (PI: Associate Professor Jennifer Keating) and the successful candidate will be expected to be in role for the start of the 2024/25 academic year. The successful candidate: o will teach survey and research-led modules at BA level, including co-teaching a first-year survey module HIS10450 Radicals and Revolutionaries. o will contribute to the MA in Global History; o will supervise undergraduate and graduate dissertations; o will contribute to the administration of the School, as designated by the Head of School; o will have the opportunity to develop their research agenda and to apply for University and College seed-funding schemes. The candidate must have a PhD in History, experience in teaching at University level, and a commitment to research, as evidenced by peer-reviewed, high impact publications. 95 Lecturer/Asst Professor Above The Bar (7944) Salary Scale: €60,261 – €95,425 Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines.
