In ActionAid Denmark, we are dedicated to empowering young activists through innovative learning programs. As our Social Movement Learning Specialist prepares for maternity leave, we are seeking a talented individual to join our team on a temporary basis for an 8-month period.

What is GOLD?

ActionAid Denmark (AADK) designs and runs the Global Organising and Leadership Development programme (GOLD).

GOLD is a global capacity strengthening programme, with both digital, online and face to face components. We seek to nurture and sustain young people’s movements by providing skills, analytical competencies, and tools to organise their constituencies, set visions, analyse contexts, and mobilise support to a pursue a strategy while keeping the movement alive and accountable to the constituencies. The GOLD programme is inspired by ‘The Movement Cycle’ and is offering tailor-made interventions depending on the challenges the movements and young activists face. The programme is targeting both the core leaders, organisers and the broader group of activists mobilised. Special efforts is made to include marginalised young activists, including young women

As Learning Specialist you will be a key player in designing, implementing, evaluating and revising the programme

You will collaborate on this with our partners in India, Nigeria, and our training center at TCDC in Tanzania, as well as the Global Platforms network spanning 23 countries. The GOLD team is composed of two learning specialists and a learning experience designer based respectively in India, Tanzania and Denmark.

This position is designated as an “abroad position,” (based outside of Denmark). We prefer a candidate living close to one of the African MOVE hubs in Nigeria or Tanzania or close to one of our youth-training Centers in the network of Global Platforms.

Your role will include both implementation, conceptualizing, designing, and administration:

Implementation of the GOLD programme means developing a cutting-edge movement program in collaboration with partners and activists.

Expectations/Deliveries:

  • Develop content for online self-paced learning, online facilitated learning and face2face learning sessions
  • Host and facilitate live sessions as part of the GOLD programme
  • Give feedback on assignments and communicate with learners

Conceptualizing and designing ‘Momentum’ means designing a concept of masterclasses and webinars for the GOLD movement leaders and activists who have completed the previous two stages of GOLD; Entry and Growth.

Expectations/Deliveries:

  • Conceptualise and design the 3rd stage of the GOLD programme, referred to as Momentum
  • Learn from content matter experts and ensure continued relevance of the GOLD programme
  • Design and lead one face2face workshop or seminar
  • Coordinate with subject matter experts and movement mentors when designing Momentum

Administration and collaboration are equally crucial, involving assistance in implementing MOVE partnerships and undertaking administrative responsibilities.

Expectations/Deliveries:

  • Participate in and contribute to global team meetings and activities
  • Support with administrative tasks related to GOLD implementation with local partners
  • Be curious on data, feedback and evaluation and use this to improve the GOLD programme and support the design of GOLD impact assessment

To meet the requirements for this role, you should:

  • Have a minimum of 5 years’ experience with designing and running learning programmes
  • Have solid theoretical knowledge of adult learning
  • Have experience with inclusive and engaging online facilitation for various audiences
  • Be comfortable with public speaking
  • Be an excellent writer and communicator in English and preferably also other languages
  • Have theoretical knowledge around community organizing, leadership development, movement building and feminism

It will be an advantage if you also have:

  • Experience from activism and/or supporting and working with social movements
  • Knowledge and experience with ActionAid approach and Global Platform Learning Methodology and setup
