Our client are seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join their team in Cork. The role will involve supporting the overhaul project team to deliver the projects safely, on schedule, on budget and to the required quality.Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the Safety Adviser and other project team members to ensure that all works undertaken during the project are executed in accordance with statutory safety, health and environmental regulations.
  • Grouping of work packages, development of technical specifications, tendering and contractor selection for work packages in his/her areas of responsibility
  • Support the implementation of Inspection & Test Plans for the Mechanical aspects of the unit, in conjunction with the appropriate Competent Person / Asset Management Specialist
  • Management of quality in accordance with responsibilities listed in the Project Quality Plan.
  • Day to day supervision and point of contact with contractors and their works
  • Work with and support the station Management and Maintenance Teams during the course of the project.
  • Undertake regular safety, environment and quality audits during the overhaul.
  • Reporting on progress against schedule and attendance at various project meetings as deemed appropriate by the Project Manager
  • Work with the Project Manager to control costs for assigned contracts.
  • Management of special tooling requirements with the principle Contractor.
  • Development of technical specifications for work scopes on Mechanical plant and equipment and involvement in various stages of tendering and procurement process
  • Use of plant modification process for all plant modifications. Ensure all procedures and drawings are updated

Knowledge, Skills & ExperienceEssential

  • Experience of planning major power station overhauls – including logistics, procurement, specifications development and contractor management
  • Ability to work and share knowledge and competencies within a team structure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility which is important in all aspects of the role
  • Strong report writing capability.
  • Proficient computer skills

Desirable

  • Experience in the overhaul of CCGT power plant

QualificationsEssential

  • Experience of Power plant mechanical plant, including, Turbo Machinery Pumps, Motors and Valves etc
  • Well versed with Health, Safety and Environment Standards and procedures
  • Minimum experience of 5 years (Post Qualification) in power generation industry

Desirable

  • Engineer level 8 qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline

Duration:The project has already begun, and the candidate is requested to mobilise as soon as possible.
