Language Interpreter

1. Nature of the consultancy: Conduct face to face and or virtual interpretations (consecutive interpretation) from Tigrinya, Amharic, Somali, Arabic, saho and Dinka to English and and vice versa.
2. IOM Project or IOM Department to which the interpreter is contributing: Medical Health Assessment Unit and Resettlement Movement Management.
3. Tasks – Outputs – Category B Language Interpreter

• Conduct face to face and or virtual interpretations (consecutive interpretation) from from Tigrinya, Amharic, Somali, Arabic, saho and Dinka to English and vice versa in the context of refugee under-going selection mission interviews, medical assessment and cultural orientation in accordance with confidentially, integrity, professionalism and with the respect to diversity.
• Support with the translation of refugee documents related to the selection, medical and cultural orientation activities.
• Respond to queries related to the area of responsibility.
• Discharge the responsibilities in a manner that is consistent with the core, functional, cross functional, high competence and professionalism.
• Maintain a high level of neutrality when performing interpretation work and avoid providing his/her personal inputs or ideas when delivering messages between the interviewer and the refugee applicant.
• Provide general clerical support to IOM staff, conduct telephonic communications if needed as a part of the routine follow up
• Provide ad hoc support for written translations as would be required.
• Provide general information and answers to basic queries on the resettlement procedures to the refugees as would be instructed by IOM.
• Contribute to reporting activities and statistics as would be requested
• Perform an any other related duties as required.

1. Payment modality

   An all-inclusive fee of USD 45.00 (Fourty Five US Dollars Only) per worked days. The amount does not include the travel expenses and cover only the actual work on interpretation. The payment will be based on the worked days.
