I. POSITION INFORMATION

Position title: Junior Graphic Design Consultant

Duty Station: IOM-Bahrain

Duration: 4 months with a possibility of extension

Start Date: As soon as possible

Reporting directly to: CIOP Graphic Designer, IOM-Bahrain

Overall supervision by: Head of Labour Mobility and Social Inclusion, IOM-Bahrain

II. ORGANISATIONAL CONTEXT AND SCOPE

The International Organization for Migration’s (IOM) mission in Bahrain supports Governments and other stakeholders in developing tailored orientation programmes to address the information needs of prospective, outbound, current and returning migrant workers. This approach could contribute towards supporting well-informed decision-making, enhancing skills to effectively navigate work and life abroad, and manage different components of departure and return.

The consultant will be supporting the IOM team with ongoing and upcoming projects. Projects will be tailored for master trainers, labour recruiters, employers as well as migrant workers.

The consultant may also support the IOM team across other ongoing and upcoming projects that require visual uplift and design.

III. CONSULTANCY OBJECTIVE

The overarching objective of this consultancy is to support IOM Bahrain on graphic designing the PDO programme into a designed document for digital viewing and as well as printing.

The consultant may also support with different ongoing and/or upcoming projects with graphic design for different products like (but not limited to):

  • Reports, guides and modules
  • PowerPoint presentations
  • Icons, infographics, organigrams and charts
  • Concept notes and proposals
  • Posters, rollups and banners
  • Pamphlets, brochures and booklets
  • Mockups

This will involve producing relevant designs, infographics, charts, visualizations etc. The graphic designer will deliver both, digital (web) and as well as print-ready products, in line with IOM brand guidelines. S/he must be able to work well under pressure with tight due dates. The consultant may also be required to handle projects simultaneously to meet deadlines.

IV. SCOPE OF WORK

The Graphic Design Consultant should have significant experience in graphic design work and data visualization. The consultant will ensure that the end-products are ready for publication (web and print) and external circulation. This will involve:

  • Working with the senior graphic designer to develop creative concepts and visuals for communication materials.
  • Assisting in the design and layout of publications, reports, brochures, and other IEC (Information, Education and Communication) materials in line with the IOM brand guidelines.
  • Creating and designing infographics, social media visuals and other digital graphics in line with the IOM brand guidelines.
  • Assisting in the preparation of visual presentations and documents, including PowerPoint presentations and proposals.
  • Participating in team meetings and contributing creative ideas and solutions.
  • Applying knowledge of process and branding to successfully execute and complete various types of materials. All the design elements of these products should be in line with the IOM Publications Layout Manual and IOM Brand Style Guide;
  • Representing the brand correctly, strictly within the parameters provided;
  • Incorporating feedback from IOM team and stakeholders into the reports in order to accommodate tight due dates and timeframes;
  • Producing sustainable design products (templates) for digital use as well as print, is highly recommended.

The above tasks shall be undertaken in cooperation with the CIOP team. S/he shall consult, coordinate and update the CIOP Graphic Designer on the status of the aforementioned tasks upon request.

V. DELIVERABLES

All files and graphic design (raw and print-ready) should be submitted to IOM Bahrain.

VII. REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE and SKILLS REQUIRED

Education and Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual communication, fine arts, or a related field is required with a minimum of 3 years of professional experience in the field of graphic design or a related area is required. or
  • High School diploma with 5years of relevant professional experience.

Applicants must provide a comprehensive portfolio demonstrating their skills and expertise.

Skills Required:

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Knowledge of brand and visual designing, design principles, typography, colour theory, layout and composition.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work within established brand guidelines.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of digital design and social media platforms and best practices.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members, stakeholders, and external service providers.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to present and articulate design concepts and ideas.
  • Creativity and innovation, including the ability to develop new and engaging visual solutions.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify potential issues or areas of improvement.

VIII. LANGUAGES

  • Professional fluency in spoken and written English is required, while Arabic is highly desirable.

IX. CONFIDENTIALITY AGREEMENT

Contracted consultants are not permitted to use any of his/her gathered data, reported findings, contributions to the draft and final reports to further his/her personal research.
