Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and innovative Java Developer to join our Technology Department. The overarching requirement of the role will be to build, improve and deliver critical systems supporting operations while following processes to reduce delivery times and improve customer satisfactionYour day to day duties will include:Contribute to the development of software that delivers new features, improves on existing functionality, and generates early valueParticipate in the full software development life cycle (SDLC) and provide operational support to our systemsWrite and deploy clean, scalable, testable, and secure codePerform front- and back-end development, including using SQL to manage databasesIntegrate software components with third-party programsFollow Agile practices from Kanban and/or Scrum as directed by the Development LeadAttend planning events and work with the Development Lead and Product Owner to understand requirements and priorities, agree goals, and accept tasksAttend daily stand-ups to share progress, raise support needs, and highlight any impedimentsWork for a company described as the UK’s most significant scientific asset|Excellent career growth and personal development opportunitiesThe successful candidate should have:

  • Experience in designing, building and maintaining Java-based applications and services.
  • Knowledge of Spring framework
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS), databases (SQL), and architectural styles
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience of working in agile environments
