Job Overview: The Eligibility and Intake Specialist is responsible for the screening and enrollment of new Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR)-eligible populations in services at the IRC in Denver. The eligibility and Intake Specialist will conduct comprehensive assessments to determine client eligibility for ORR services, utilizing structured interviews and standardized forms to gather relevant information. They will maintain accurate and confidential records, following established guidelines and privacy regulations.

In this position, the specialist will facilitate engaging new client enrollment meetings where they will explain available services, including ORR benefits, and guide clients through the initial steps of service enrollment. Additionally, the Eligibility and Intake Specialist may be asked to support the assessment of clients’ eligibility for cash programs and assist with cash assistance enrollment process.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain electronic client files, ensuring all relevant Casework Intake paperwork, eligibility documentation, and required client documentation is uploaded in a timely manner and review for accuracy and completeness.
  • Conduct ongoing eligibility and intake assessments of new clients for ORR-funded services.
  • Triage client needs and enroll them in the appropriate programs at the IRC in Denver and make outside referrals as necessary.
  • Facilitate group or individual new client enrollment meetings & cash assistance intake meetings as needed
  • Identify and develop partnerships with local organizations and service providers to expand resources available to clients and maintain up-to-date knowledge of community resources and support services for refugees and immigrants.
  • Review data in web-based systems (Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) and Geneva) and perform regular quality assurance and tracking to support timely reporting to funders.
  • Implement quality assurance measures to ensure compliance with program requirements by:
  • Auditing internal case files and processes
  • Support program evaluation and assessment activities
  • Maintain and manage administrative documentation and processes for casework and economic empowerment teams.
  • Assist with case closure processes and procedures
  • Participate in program meetings, and staff development activities.
  • Comply with all policies, procedures, and protocols of the organization.
  • Responsibly represent IRC through communications with external program participants, partners, and community members.
  • Other responsibilities as needed and assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Relevant degree or equivalent professional and/or lived experience
  • Excellent organizational skills, high level attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated understanding of working in a trauma-informed, person-centered manner
  • English proficiency, both spoken and written
  • Professional proficiency in Spanish, French, or Haitian Creole preferred
  • Strong intercultural communication skills: demonstrated ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and across language diversity
  • Ability to maintain quality notes and documentation in accurate and timely manner
  • Commitment to anti-racism and ongoing learning
  • Comfortable working in high-stress, multicultural environments; must be adaptable, flexible, and patient
  • Excellent problem-solving skills combined and the ability to prioritize duties and manage time effectively
  • Proficient with Windows operating system and confidence in computer skills (word processing, email, data entry); willingness and ability to learn new software
  • Ability to work independently to ensure proactive, quality performance of duties, as well as ability to work as part of a team
  • Access to reliable transportation to travel regularly throughout the service delivery area

Compensation: Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.

US Benefits: The IRC offers a comprehensive and highly competitive set of benefits. All US employees are eligible for sick time, a 403b retirement savings plans: up to 4.5% immediately vested matching contribution, plus an 3-7% additional IRC contribution, and an Employee Assistance Program which is available to our staff and their families to support in times of crisis and mental health struggles.

In addition, full-time employees are eligible for 10 US paid holidays, 20-25 paid time off days, disability & life insurance, medical, dental, and vision insurance (employee contribution starting at $135, $7, and $5 per month respectively) and FSA for healthcare, childcare, and commuter costs. Part-time employees are eligible for a proportionate amount of paid time off. These additional benefits apply to employees who work at least 6 months within a 12 month time period.
