Job Description At Gempool, we are currently working with a leading healthcare solutions provider with a focus on delivering diagnostic imaging services across Ireland and Europe. As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in managing and enhancing the technical aspects of the company’s infrastructure, communication, and telephony systems. Working closely with the Solutions Architect and IT Manager, you will contribute to the successful delivery of technical support, operational management, and infrastructure projects that align with the organization’s business objectives.Core Responsibilities:Operational Management:

  • Resolve core client, radiologist, and internal infrastructure issues promptly, emphasizing repeat problem analysis and prevention.
  • Maintain and enhance local/cloud virtualization and storage infrastructure, ensuring capacity, resilience, and performance improvements.
  • Troubleshoot connectivity, routing, and firewall issues.

Preventative Maintenance:

  • Ensure secure system configurations and adherence to the patch management cycle.
  • Upgrade and configure system software, supporting IM&T infrastructure applications as needed.
  • Conduct regular performance reporting, tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization.

Proactive Monitoring:

  • Proactively monitor and alert on all systems, identifying and rectifying potential or actual Core System availability issues.
  • Conduct security monitoring for intrusions and daily system monitoring to ensure hardware, server resources, and key processes’ integrity and availability.

Operational Projects:

  • Assist in managing business demands by proposing solutions aligned with company requirements.
  • Plan, own, and manage approved technical projects related to system infrastructure upgrades and enhancements.
  • Provide extended technical support for client-server deployments, rebuilds, and upgrades.

Team Collaboration:

  • Train Service Desk and Workflow coordinators in technical skills, identifying skills gaps and development opportunities.
  • Champion change and effectively manage the implementation of new ideas.
  • Mentor and assist other members of the IM&T department, promoting teamwork and collaboration.

Documentation and Communication:

  • Update IM&T infrastructure documentation for operational processes, projects, and licensing requirements.
  • Efficiently liaise with Client IT departments and 3rd party suppliers on technical requirements.
  • Participate in inter-departmental communication, ensuring visibility of activities across the business.

  • Technical expertise in Windows Server architecture in clustered, highly available environments.
  • Extensive experience with virtualization technologies, particularly VMware vSphere and Azure.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and CA.
  • Strong TCP/IP experience and networking skills, including support for network-switched infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience with HP Enterprise server architecture, SAN technologies, and backup solutions like Veeam.
  • Desirable skills include familiarity with Cisco technologies, Linux administration, scripting (VB or PowerShell), and experience with IP-based telephony systems, such as 3CX.
