ABOUT THE JOB

Working as an Information Management Officer, part of the Humanitarian Innovation Team, you will work across the full solution development lifecycle, helping our partners design, implement, and enhance their information management (IM) systems. You will play a key role in assessing needs, designing solutions, and ensuring users can independently manage and leverage the tools you help build.

This role is highly dynamic, requiring adaptability and a willingness to learn new tools and technologies. You will work on multiple projects simultaneously, collaborate with international teams, and interact with various stakeholders in the humanitarian sector.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Needs Assessment & Solution Design
  • Collaborate with partners (namely UNESCO and Helen Keller International) to understand their requirements, existing IM systems, and data constraints.
  • Conduct detailed assessments of current tools, datasets, and workflows to identify gaps and improvement opportunities.
  • Design and implement tailored data solutions using tools like KoboToolbox, Power BI, Metabase, Limesurvey, Webform, ensuring alignment with partners’ operational needs.
  1. Data Management & Visualization
  • Develop, organize, and manage datasets to ensure they are reliable, secure, and accessible.
  • Create dashboards, infographics, maps, and other visual tools that aid decision-making, planning, and reporting.
  • Ensure accurate and consistent documentation of data processes to enable smooth handovers and long-term usability.
  1. Capacity Building & Support
  • Develop and deliver training sessions, workshops, and user-friendly guidelines to empower partners in managing IM systems and tools.
  • Support partners in achieving ownership of their IM solutions by enhancing their technical skills and understanding.
  • Provide ongoing technical support and guidance to partners, ensuring solutions are sustainable and effective.
  1. Strategy Implementation & Innovation
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of IM and MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning) strategies alongside the HIT team.
  • Collaborate on enhancing Relief Applications’ proprietary tools, such as OORT, by testing, improving, and implementing them in various projects.
  • Stay updated on trends and technologies in information management to ensure the adoption of innovative practices.

PROFILE REQUESTED

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Information Management, Computer Science, GIS, Disaster Management or any other equivalent field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in information management, preferably in a multicultural or humanitarian setting.

Technical Skills

  • Strong computer literacy skills
  • Proficiency in mobile data collection tools (KoboToolbox, ODK, XLS Form etc.)
  • Advanced skills in Excel and statistical analysis tools
  • Strong knowledge of data visualisation tools (PowerBi, Tableau, GIS tools etc.)
  • Knowledge of database management and web-based technologies.
  • Understanding of MEAL processes and needs in the humanitarian sector.
  • Experience in designing training materials and user guidelines for diverse audiences.

Language Skills

  • Fluency in English is required
  • French proficiency is highly recommended

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience handling sensitive or confidential data is a plus.

Additional Assets

  • Knowledge of content management systems (e.g., Drupal, WordPress, Strapi).
