The Role

This role will be responsible for leading our growing and diversifying our Rail capability in WA. We are ideally looking for an industry professional who is equally comfortable in a sales role, winning work and leading bids as well as overseeing project execution and managing multidisciplinary delivery teams. You will also play key part in shaping the strategy in terms of building our rail capability, one that is renowned for achieving exceptional outcomes and providing clients with sound engineering advice.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate day-to-day leadership of the Rail team.

  • Identify value-adds, innovations and other points of difference that KBR can deliver or develop further and connect these with KBR’s clients via regular discussion / engagement.

  • Proactive client relationship management, pursuit planning and proposal management.

  • Form and nurture relationships within the market to support development of new and ongoing repeat work for the business.

  • Undertake early-game positioning and complete pre-tender plans to improve the company’s probability of success prior to the tender brief arriving (via points of differences and value-adds).

  • Develop and maintain and pipeline of opportunities and agree targets to begin positioning.

  • Project delivery and engineering excellence.

  • Accountable, typically as a project leader, for the successful project delivery of KBR’s contracted services to the client against cost, time, and quality objectives.

  • Work closely with the client and internal staff to effectively manage expectations, contract compliance, and achieve compliance with KBR systems and processes.

  • Lead and manage a multi-disciplinary team (both internal KBR disciplines as well as external sub-consultant partners).

  • Take an interest in and participate, where possible, with KBR’s Employee Resource Groups, which promote development for graduates, promotion of gender diversity, reconciliation and empowerment of First Nations Peoples, equal opportunities for LGBTQ+ employees and supporting veterans and other employees serving in the Armed Forces.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A solid track record and demonstrated experience within the rail sector, preferably in WA

  • Both passenger rail experience and heavy haul freight (including minerals) will be highly regarded.

  • Strong technical design ability.

  • Degree qualified and ideally CPEng.

  • Significant experience in an engineering consulting environment.

  • Proven ability to develop win strategies and proposal methodologies that support winning new business.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated experience in developing, managing, and maintaining positive industry relationships that result in opportunities converted into projects.

  • Strong client contacts within the rail sector.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills.

  • Working knowledge of commercial arrangements and relationships.

  • Strong practical knowledge of and commitment to health and safety.
