We have an exciting opportunity for someone thinking about a sea-change for their family or someone local with a drive and passion for HSE to join our Leadership Team reporting to the Plant Lead. Joining an amazing Team at a multi-national Manufacturing Site for the Philadelphia cream cheese based in Suttontown (Mount Gambier), known for its picturesque limestone, volcanic landscape and crater lakes.

As our Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) Manager, you will work closely with the ANZ HSSE team, site leadership team, manufacturing managers, and production teams to lead, coach, and drive the safety culture across the site delivering a ‘Zero Harm’ mindset. Ensuring the implementation, maintenance, administering and directing all HSSE activities are undertaken and in line with company policy, standards and statutory requirements now but also strategic planning forward for 24 – 36 months.

How you will contribute

You will:

  • Lead the site HSSE team, site operations and functional teams to provide and deliver agreed health, safety, security & environmental plans in line with ANZ HSSE strategy and objectives.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies and continuous improvement in maintenance of HSSE systems

  • Identify training needs, organise and deliver training, provide on the job coaching to ensure all staff understand current policies and procedures.

  • Monitor, analyse and report on key HSSE performance indicators to measure effectiveness of plans

  • Implement procedures and manage issues relating to injury management, rehabilitation and workers compensation practises

  • Negotiation with internal and external stakeholders to develop and deliver the site position on EHS matters

  • Facilitate the action plans that reduce environmental impact of the site and wider environment, including waste/water and energy reduction targets per tonne product produced

What you will bring

A desire to drive your future and accelerate your career. You will bring experience and knowledge in:

  • Significant experience in HSSE roles and within a fast moving, manufacturing environment, preferably food or dynamic industry

  • Demonstrated experience managing a team, change management and project management

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work with individuals at all levels

  • Strong commercial and negotiating skills along with the ability to think strategically and influence effectively are also key attributes for this position.

  • Expert knowledge in the application of risk management tools

  • Thorough knowledge of relevant EHS legislation

  • Knowledge of Australia’s HSSE and Accident Compensation and Rehabilitation legislation.

Education / Certifications:

  • Degree qualified in an applicable Science or Engineering discipline

  • Specific qualifications in Health & Safety

  • Training/experience in Mental Health is advantages
