Here at The Mick George Group we are looking for a Health and Safety Manager to join the team.
Job Overview:
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced health and safety professional to join our Health and Safety team. The role is primarily tasked with supporting the senior manager and site managers / supervisors to affect and maintain continual improvement in our health and safety performance and to contribute to the development of our ISO 45001 management system. This challenging but rewarding role will support an ongoing programme of change across the Group, building on our previous success and consolidating our position for future growth.
Reporting to the Head of Health and Safety the ideal candidate will be a strong leader with extensive management and health and safety experience. You will be able to demonstrate a track record of delivering tangible improvements to health and safety performance. You will need excellent communication and negotiation skills, maintaining the ability to present a robust challenge while defaulting to your influencing skills to deliver results.
Responsibilities:

Develop, maintain and monitor the implementation of good H&S across the company and all its activities.

Provide competent H&S advice and support to all levels of the company from the Senior Management Team to individual employees.

Engage and promote safety at all levels and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.

Prepare and deliver training to employees e.g. inductions, toolbox talks, safety campaigns and bulletins.

Carry out site audits and inspections across static sites in the Group and at customer’s construction and demolition sites.

Collate, analyse and report on Health and Safety matters for the Board, managers and supervisors and maintain KPIs (AFR/AIR, Near Misses etc)

Carry out and support accident investigation and analysis through to root cause and corrective actions and reporting

Ensure that suitable and sufficient risk assessments and method statements are in place for all company activities, making recommendations for improvement and ensuring implementation.

Carry out Fire Risk Assessments and provide fire safety management advice

Provide advice on COSHH assessments

Raise and close out Improvements Logs and Non-Conformance Reports to support the company’s business management system and ISO 45001

Contribute to the development and maintenance of the H&S department management system and the company’s H&S strategy

Assist in the preparation of Construction Phase Plans and advise on requirements under CDM regulations

Management of Occupational Health monitoring

SSIP, Supplier Questionnaire and PQQ completion support
Skills / Qualifications:
-
NEBOSH Construction Certificate (Minimum requirement)

Minimum 3 years experience working in a similar role in the construction industry in the UK

Full UK driving licence
-
Good work ethic and a good level of literacy.

Good communicator / influencer with a pragmatic and personable approach
-
Ability to organise own work while working as part of a team.
-
Good understanding of relevant legislation and the ability to translate it into good working practises.
-
Environmental management qualification or experience would be an advantage.

Membership of a professional body would be an advantage
