Health and Safety Advisor – Scotland (Surfacing)Application Deadline: 20 November 2024Department: Health and SafetyEmployment Type: Permanent – Full TimeLocation: Uddingston, South LanarkshireDescriptionRegional role covering Scotland – based from Uddingston, GlasgowAs a Health and Safety Advisor at Breedon, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and improving our safety culture, ensuring compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, and implementing best practices to create a safe working environment.This is a remote role where you will have autonomy in regards to delivering and supporting the business’ needs in this region. You must be confident and a strong communicator who has the ability to influence and coach people in all aspects of safety, health, wellbeing.Key Responsibilities

  • Promoting a strong safety culture across the organisation by actively engaging and coaching employees
  • Ensuring that operational activities comply with relevant health and safety legislation, industry standards, and company policies.
  • Work with site managers and road surfacing operatives to ensure a consistent approach to health and safety management
  • Supporting the development of safety procedures, method statement and risk assessments
  • Support the investigation of safety incidents and near misses and develop action plans to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Identify areas for improvement and work with relevant teams to implement necessary changes.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Experience in Highways Construction is preferable
  • Professional certifications such as NEBOSH or equivalent
  • Proven experience as a Health and Safety Advisor
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety legislation, regulations, and best practices.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to work collaboratively and independently, with strong attention to detail.
  • A passion for promoting and ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Full driving license
