Job description

My client, a global leader in transport infrastructure, is looking for an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join their team in Galway. The successful candidate will report to the Group Health & Safety Manager and work closely with contracting teams, subcontractors, and site managers to maintain high safety standards in line with legal requirements and company policies.Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor health and safety programs to ensure compliance with government regulations and company standards.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and behavioral safety through regular training sessions, including toolbox talks, induction training, and annual safety presentations.
  • Conduct site audits, safety inspections, and risk assessments, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Lead accident investigations, root cause analyses, and reporting to the Health & Safety Authority as required by law.
  • Manage and support the implementation of Safe T Cert and ISO 45001 management systems across various projects.
  • Liaise with subcontractors and project teams to ensure adherence to safety documentation and procedures.
  • Prepare and deliver regular health and safety reports, including audit schedules, performance data, and management review packages.
  • Manage the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Program and ensure compliance at all sites.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Occupational Safety & Health, Construction, or Engineering.
  • 3+ years’ experience in health and safety within the manufacturing, quarrying, construction, or road maintenance industries.
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 45001, Safe T Cert, and relevant Irish safety regulations (SHWWA 2005).
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and teamwork skills with the ability to work across all levels of the organisation.
  • Proven experience in auditing, risk assessments, and safety performance monitoring.
