ENGIE is involved in the development and operation of renewable assets (onshore wind, solar PV, biomethane plants), flexibility assets (pumped-hydro storage, gas storage, batteries), is a significant gas and electricity supplier for B2B customers and operates trading activities on wholesale markets, including 24/7 on intraday markets.The purpose of the Head of Regulatory, Public Affairs and ESG/CSR role is to lead the strategic management of regulatory compliance, government relations, and public affairs as well as oversee and coordinate ESG/CSR related activities within ENGIE UK. This position aims to (1) understand key business stakes, then establish and represent the company’s position, as well as (2) monitor and explain relevant regulatory matters within the company (businesses in the UK and corporate).To succeed, the Head of RAPA & ESG/CSR will effect collaboration with relevant authorities in the UK to review and help frame policy decisions, navigate regulatory frameworks, and foster strong relationships with key stakeholders,. The person in the role will also liaise and coordinate with a network of experts within the Group, in particular the Public Affairs Department, which reports to the Group General Secretary. He or she will be involved in existing networks for exchanges between the heads of public and regulatory affairs in the Group’s various geographies. The role will comply with all applicable laws and ENGIE’s Ethical rules and policiesENGIE are recruiting for a Head of Regulatory and Public Affairs and ESG based in London . This is a Permanent role, working full time Monday to Friday. On offer is a competitive salary, bonus and benefits package.Key ResponsibilitiesGovernment and Regulatory Body Engagement

  • Cultivate and maintain positive working relationships with government agencies, policymakers, and regulatory bodies at various levels to investigate, understand and help frame policy formulation, and encourage regulatory environments that accelerate the energy transition towards a carbon neutral economy.

Policy Analysis and Insights

  • Monitor, analyse, and interpret legislative changes, regulatory trends, and policy developments affecting ENGIE’s businesses
  • Provide strategic insights and recommendations to senior management based on in-depth policy analysis, anticipating potential impacts on business operations. Prepare position papers on key topics

Public Relations and Advocacy

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive public affairs strategy to enhance ENGIE UK’s reputation and visibility in the energy transition space.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to effectively communicate the company’s vision, initiatives, and contributions to sustainable energy solutions.

Risk Management and Compliance Oversight

  • Assess regulatory risks and develop proactive measures to mitigate potential impacts on business operations and project timelines. · Ensure company-wide understanding and compliance with regulatory requirements, providing guidance and support to cross-functional teams.

Cross-functional Collaboration and Leadership

  • Foster collaboration across departments including legal, finance, operations, and marketing and GBUs to align regulatory strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Lead and mentor a team, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities to drive high performance.

ESG/CSR

  • Provide strategic guidance and leadership in analysing regulatory strategies in context of ENGIE’s ESG objectives.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and disseminate action plans across all business units at ENGIE UK.

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience in regulatory affairs, public policy, government relations, or a related field within the energy sector or a closely aligned industry, including work at a strategic level.
  • Bachelor’s degree in law, Public Policy, Political Science, Business Administration, Environmental Studies, or a related field. A master degree is highly desirable.
  • Certifications or additional training in energy law, policy analysis, regulatory compliance, or public affairs are highly desirable.
  • An in-depth knowledge of the energy markets, climate change & environmental issues and related regulations is essential for this role.
  • A detailed understanding of the functioning of Institutions mainly in the UK but in Ireland as well
  • A detailed understanding of the market structure and the business activities of market players. A wider appreciation of the UK/EU political landscape
  • Demonstrable track record in working collaboratively with Governments in key policy areas.
  • An exceptionally impactful individual, able to translate complex ideas into simple concepts
