A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Head of Nursing for Evelina London Children’s Community services. We are looking for a highly dynamic and self-motivated individual. The Head of Nursing will be accountable for ensuring the delivery of high-quality care within the directorate. They will provide operational nursing advice and expertise, leadership and management support across the directorate, and work collaboratively with wider MDT to deliver key strategic and operational objectives.The Head of Nursing is a core member the directorate management team, and within the management teams has responsibility to ensure that all aspects of operational nursing is delivered to agreed high standards which will provide the best possible experience and outcome for patients. Responsible to the Clinical Director and; professionally accountable to the Clinical Group Director of Nursing, this is crucial in delivering the Trust Nursing and Midwifery Strategy and the development of excellent professional practice.We are looking for a talented, passionate and experienced nurse leader who can demonstrate strong clinical and strategic leadership, with the ability to communicate effectively across multi-professional boundaries as well as create an enviable culture of caring and compassion.Main duties of the jobThe Head of Nursing works as a full member of the Directorate Management team. These team is led by the Clinical Director, who is a full member of the Trust Management Executive. The post holder is accountable to the Clinical Director and works in partnership with the General Managers to ensure the Directorates deliver on all of their objectives across a range of clinical services. They are responsible for providing the Directorates leadership on a range of issues and initiatives and will deputise for the Clinical Director as required.The Head of Nursing provides strategic, professional and operational nursing leadership across the Directorates and the wider organisation through effective role modelling. The post holder is accountable for the delivery of high quality, cost effective nursing patient care within budget constraints. - Relevant Masters/MBA qualification or equivalent experience.
ExperienceEssential
- Demonstrate a successful track record of delivering effective nursing services as a senior nurse manager responsible for staff management, financial management and change management.
- Experience of managing a large, complex professional workforce and associated budgets.
- Experience of working and delivering Trust-wide professional nursing objectives.
- Evidence of delivering operational performance across a range of services
- Experience of quality and risk management, to include experience in analysing and resolving complex complaints and incidents.
- A strong track record of managing complexity and risk whilst maintaining high standards of nursing care.

- Able to articulate a clear vision/plan for nursing which will enable the Directorate to meet all of its objectives.
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team to solve problems and deliver change
- A comprehensive understanding of the changing NHS environment and the challenges it faces and the role and contribution nurses can make.
