Head of Materials and Supply Chain – North DublinThis role is a senior leadership position, and the successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate excellent leadership to drive high performance behaviours across the entire materials team, whilst working collaboratively across multiple departments.
We are looking for a high-paced individual, with a track record in driving change and working strategically and this will be critical to making this role successful.Key tasks and responsibilities:
This position has overall responsibility for the operational procurement, customer service, inbound & outbound logistics, customs compliance, planning and SAP management teams. You will lead a team to ensure all materials are managed to ensure optimum quality and costs to support manufacturing, meeting stringent health & safety, quality, and productivity targets.
As a member of the Senior Site Leadership Team, this individual will be instrumental in supporting the overall strategic direction of the business and site.
The breadth and scope of this role will require a multi-faceted individual with experience in leading procurement, logistics and customer service. They will work closely with strategic procurement / global category managers to build strong relationships with suppliers. They will partner with IT and business excellence to streamline and digitalize the logistics and procurement processes.
Effectively manage optimum costs across purchasing / indirect contracts / freight / 3PL warehousing. Think strategically to deliver site objectives.Interested applicants should have:

  • Third level degree qualification in business or engineering or a relevant discipline (QQI level 8)
  • At least 8 years’ direct logistics and/or procurement experience at a senior management level.
  • Cost Management:

o Strong negotiating skills.
o Pragmatic approach to contract management.
o Drive productivity and cost reduction in function and across the site.
o Excellent business acumen with an understanding of current best practice in Ireland in relation to Logistics and Procurement.

  • Team Leadership & Coaching:

o Empowered leadership style.
o Provide support, recognition and opportunity for growth.
o Instrumental in delivering direct coaching to develop individuals and teams.
o Develop succession planning roadmaps and a talent pipeline.
o Optimum use of headcount resource planning with strategic review and implementation.
o Deliver optimum training and development plans for the team.
o Manage and lead a team culture to drive performance improvements.
o As an SLT member, contribute, lead and support the wider business goals.
o Support front-line team leaders to deliver across all site metrics.
o Ability to influence at peer level and above both within the site and externally with the wider organisation where applicable.

  • Continuous Improvement:

o Champion Continuous Improvement across the site whilst implementing best practice processes and procedures.
o Ability to drive optimisation in procurement and logistics processes, utilizing digital tools where appropriate.
o Work both collaboratively and cross-functionally to ensure that relevant high profile business projects are completed effectively and within timeline.
o Continuously improving site performance metrics
o Strategically focused on performance

  • Analytical ability to work through complex issues
  • Strong compliance mindset in procurement, inventory, customs and export control.
  • Ability to network across the wider business to leverage scaled negotiations.
  • Work closely with local agencies to learn and grow the site reputation within Ireland.
  • Build strong relationships with other departments to ensure optimum performance and productivity.
  • Strategic, goal focused individual with high intensity and a passion for leading, managing and developing teams.
  • Ability to deliver complex solutions in close collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Readily accepts ownership, accountability, and responsibility in delivering effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills required.
