The Opportunity

This position works for the Abbott Diabates Care business. We’re focused on helping people with diabetes manage their health with life-changing products that provide accurate data to drive better-informed decisions. We’re revolutionizing the way people monitor their glucose levels with our new sensing technology.

Reporting to the Market Access Director, this position is responsible for:

Securing Market Access and Reimbursement for Diabetes Care products

Monitor and anticipate relevant reimbursement developments and create action plans to address upcoming market access challenges.

Establish and leverage critical relationships to key market access stakeholders, developing customer intimacy and aiming for mutually beneficial partnership opportunities.

Interact with country senior staff and global market access team members.

Understand, describe and prioritize most relevant market access stakeholders (payers, governmental bodies, industry associations, professional associations and other stakeholders) for local organization/business.

Build trusted and strategic relationships with payers and influencing stakeholders to anticipate payers´ agendas, plans and objectives.

Understand the specific needs of payers and reimbursement-related stakeholders and identify mutually beneficial partnering opportunities.

Analyse market access trends / health policy changes and continuously map reimbursement requirements. Anticipate access barriers and cost containment risks.

Assist in negotiating funding and price (if applicable) and support our products in reimbursement negotiations and health technology assessments.

Develop appropriate communication platforms to reinforce the value messages for our products

Partner with the Global Market Access team to inform product development & pricing based on MA customer needs. Develop launch plans for new products, mapping out local coding, coverage and payment requirements.

Consolidate planning and actions in local market access strategy & implementation plans taking into account short-term and mid-term business goals.

Be a subject matter expert in HTA (health technology assessment) and EbM (evidence-based medicine) recommendations on BGM and CGM.

Contribute actively to the global market access network by providing relevant local country input and sharing best practices.

In addition to the above, the relevant experience in required:

B.A. or B.S. Degree

At least 10 years’ experience in pharma / medical device industry, health policy or related functions of payers/HMOs/disease management organizations.

Background in evidence based medicine and/or public health and/or market access and/or competitive effectiveness research and/or health economics.

Functional experience in Reimbursement & Market Access

Experience in creation and management of local HTA submissions

Broad knowledge of government and private payer reimbursement
