We are working exclusively with the financial services arm of an international conglomerate. They are currently looking for a senior lawyer to join them as Interim Head of Legal for a period of 14 months to join their legal team based in Surrey.The successful candidate will be operating at board level and working closely with senior stakeholders, whilst leading on strategic legal and compliance projects and overseeing the legal function. This is a truly generalist role and you will be a point of escalation for the legal team on complex legal matters relating to FCA regulatory matters, compliance, consumer and commercial contracts etc.This role requires a commercially minded individual who is adaptable and robust in their approach as they will be interacting closely with the business and senior stakeholders on a daily basis whilst also leading a team.Skills required

• PQE: c.10+ years
• In-house experience gained with an established financial institution or leading corporate brand.
• Managerial experience gained through managing direct reports or a legal department.
• Excellent experience in advising in relation to compliance and financial services regulatory matters.
• Exposure to working with senior stakeholders and comfortable with advising board level members on a regular basis.
• Strong experience managing core company/commercial legal areas, e.g. Commercial Contracts.

Desirable

• Experience gained in the automotive sector
• Experience in advising on consumer credit regulation
