What’s the role?

This is an exciting opportunity, as Head of Facilities Management , to be responsible for the efficient and effective operation of our facilities services across our national network of corporate office and print sites.

Ensuring that the physical environment is maintained to the highest standards, this role involves managing day to day building operations and maintenance programs, as well as overseeing capital projects and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Reporting to the GM of Strategic Property & Facilities, and working closely with our safety and security teams, this is a hands-on role with responsibility for facilities management at our corporate head office in Surry Hills, Sydney whilst also providing strategic leadership and coordination across a team of facility managers around the country.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning & Leadership: Support the development and implementation of a comprehensive facilities management strategy, drive long-term upgrades, and foster a customer-focused culture across operations.

  • Maintenance & Operations: Oversee effective operation and maintenance of building systems, manage preventative maintenance programs, and identify building optimisation opportunities.

  • Health, Safety & Compliance: Partner with safety and security teams to maintain regulatory compliance, manage risk and assurance and ensure a safe and secure environment.

  • Budgeting & Financial Management: Take control of the facilities budget, manage contracts, and lead cost-saving and sustainability efforts.

  • Space & Asset Management: Design space utilisation strategies, manage relocations and renovations, and maintain asset records.

  • Sustainability & Energy Efficiency: Collaborate with sustainability and compliance teams on energy efficiency, waste management, and sustainability initiatives, and monitor and report on environmental impacts

  • Project Management: Lead the planning and execution of capital projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.

  • Vendor & Contract Management: Build and manage relationships with external vendors to ensure work is completed safely and service levels are met.

Who are you?

  • 10+ years of experience in facilities management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

  • Proven track record managing large, complex facilities across multiple locations.

  • Ideally have a tertiary qualifications in facilities management, engineering, business or a similar field

  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.

  • Expertise in building systems, safety regulations, and compliance standards.

  • Excellent project management skills with financial acumen in budgeting and cost control.

  • Commitment to sustainability and environmental initiatives.

  • Exceptional stakeholder management, communication and negotiation skills
