Through our people, leadership development, services, technology and scale, Wabtec delivers better outcomes for global customers by speaking the language of industry.Role: Gear GrinderSalary: £CompetitiveLocation: Burton on Trent, Staffordshire, (DE13 8EN)Hours: Monday to Thursday 06.00 to 16:00pm and Friday 06.00 to 12.00pm, 44 hours per weekContract Type: FTC 6 month – Full-TimeWe are looking for an experience Gear Grinder to join our team in Barton Under Needwood to grind gear teeth to drawing specification.What you will be doing…

  • Controlling machines and processes.
  • Use of a wide range of measuring equipment to check components
  • Have the ability to work to tight tolerances without supervision
  • Writing and interpreting instructions and procedures to assemble equipment and products accurately.
  • Obtaining relevant information from the relevant sources
  • Performing inspections of equipment, structures, materials, and products.
  • Analysing information and finding the best solutions to problems.

Are you an individual with the following?

  • A recognised Mechanical Engineering qualification
  • Previous experience of Reishauer, Niles, and Pfauter gear grinding machines would be advantageous
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
  • Proficient with using a multitude of test and precision measuring equipment, as well as manual hand tools such as micrometer, Vernier caliper etc.
  • Minimum 1-year experience in relevant rail or automotive industry.
  • Be practical mechanically oriented.
  • Possess good problem-solving skills.
  • Recognised engineering qualification required.
  • Self-motivated
