JOB PURPOSEAmnesty International is seeking a proactive and skilled Funding Manager to join our Global Fundraising team. Focused on the Europe and MENA region, this critical role will lead efforts to grow and sustain high-value income from trusts, foundations, and major donors. You’ll work closely with Amnesty International Sections and stakeholders to drive strategic fundraising growth that supports both local and international human rights work.This is a unique opportunity to contribute to Amnesty’s global mission by building impactful partnerships and strengthening fundraising programmes across Europe and MENA.MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and manage a pipeline of major donors and trust/foundation prospects across the Europe & MENA region, with a focus on securing six-to-seven figure, multi-year commitments.
- Work with Amnesty sections to develop compelling co-funding proposals that support international and regional human rights programmes.
- Cultivate long-term relationships with key philanthropic stakeholders and funding partners, ensuring effective stewardship and donor engagement.
- Provide strategic guidance on donor trends, ethical fundraising, and compliance with funding requirements.
- Partner with Amnesty fundraising teams in priority markets to unlock philanthropic potential and foster growth in grant income.
- Lead and support grant management systems, from budgeting and reporting to monitoring and evaluation.
- Deliver tailored support and mentoring to sections to strengthen their high-value fundraising capacity.
- Oversee all high-value Fundraising Investment Fund (FIF) grants across the region, driving strategic use of investment resources.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Proven experience in securing large-scale restricted funding or major gifts (£1M+), with a successful track record of achieving ambitious income targets.
- Strong experience in relationship-building and stewardship of donors within an international NGO or social enterprise context.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the philanthropic landscape in Europe and/or MENA, with experience identifying and cultivating new funding opportunities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce persuasive funding proposals and donor reports.
- Advanced project planning and budgeting skills, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholder inputs and donor compliance requirements.
- Ability to work collaboratively across regions, cultures, and functions to support movement-wide fundraising growth.
- Experience in emergency fundraising is a plus.
- Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
