MORE ABOUT THIS JOB:Securities LendingThe Securities Lending Desk is primarily responsible for negotiating and managing the facilitation of secured funding, lending and synthetic transactions between various market participants. Our clients include Institutional Lenders, Hedge Funds and Internal Firm Desks. RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:ResponsibilitiesYou will be expected to have strong engineering and analytical skills, with a desire to learn and understand equities markets, in particular securities lending. The team work on a range of analytics systems, web applications and services for delivering revenue data and market insights to trading desks. Our primary focus is helping our trading teams make sense of the large amounts of data that we consume, by presenting that to them in a format that enables them to better run the business.You will have the opportunity to:

  • design and enhance platforms and models that calculate profit and loss on trading activity
  • identify and visualise market trends
  • impact our pricing
  • help trading desks manage their book
  • build out infrastructure and systems to help scale our business further

As an engineer on the team, you will be working across multiple technologies to manage data at scale, automate manual workflows and provide best in class solutions to business problems. There will be opportunities to understand trading flows and work closely with other front office colleagues, having a direct commercial impact on the business.Basic Qualifications

  • Strong academic background in Computer Science / Engineering / Physics / Mathematics.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, C++, Java or equivalent language
  • Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms and design patterns
  • Experience in high performance Warehousing/Transactional database technologies (Rdbms/NoSQL)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work and collaborate in a fast paced global environment
  • Comfortable working on multiple projects, demonstrating ownership, initiative and commercial impact

Preferred Qualifications

  • Full stack development experience involving frontend and backend services a real plus
  • Web development experience using frameworks such as Angular/React
  • Knowledge of service orientated architectures and SASS will be a plus
  • Strong data analysis and visualisation skills
  • Experience and knowledge in database designs and optimization techniques
  • Experience in design and implementation of scalable server side applications
  • Experience in Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD
  • Experience in Datalake and cloud storage technologies
  • Knowledge and experience of capital markets, asset classes and financial services
