About the role

We’re looking for an English-to-French Translator with expertise in localization to help us deliver exceptional product and UX content tailored to the French market. Working closely with our Localization Manager, you’ll ensure our app, website, and product communications resonate authentically with our French community while maintaining consistency across platforms. Your role will involve localizing a wide range of materials, including UX copy, app interfaces, support center articles, and product updates.

 

This is a part-time, freelance, and fully-remote position. Candidates are most successful in this role when they can offer a time commitment between 8 to 12 hours per week and are open to a longer-term working relationship.

 

What you’ll do

• Localize and adapt UX and product content from English into French, including in-app copy, web content, onboarding flows, notifications,  support articles, etc.
• Ensure that the localized content aligns with the tone, style, and brand voice guidelines to create a seamless user experience for our French-speaking community.
• Provide linguistic feedback on designs to ensure clarity, conciseness, and cultural relevance for the French market.
• Edit and proofread French marketing content to maintain consistency and quality across all platforms.
• Support terminology management and maintain a localized glossary to ensure consistency in all product communications.

You’ll be successful in this position if you

• Possess native-level French skills with excellent grammatical, written, and editorial capabilities, and have an excellent command of English.
• Have 3+ years of experience in translation and localization, with at least 2 years working on product/UX-related content.
• Have a deep understanding of French culture and market preferences, enabling you to adapt content that resonates authentically while preserving the intended message.
• Have demonstrable experience in localization tools and best practices with a sharp eye for detail.
• Have strong communication skills and good time management, with the ability to meet deadlines (sometimes at short notice).
• Be set up as a freelancer where you live and able to invoice us monthly for the hours you’ve worked.
• Have proven knowledge and interest in the outdoor industry.
