The role will report into the Modelling Lead and the aim to ensure the long-term success of the business by focusing on our long-term financial planning across the Group. Working with the wider FP&A and Business Planning teams, the role holder will be ideally placed to make connections across the business and drive uniformity across short, medium- and long-term plans.Key responsibilities will include:

  • Maintenance, evolution and adaption of the Corporate Model, bringing together the Group’s financial performance over the long-term to understand and report the impact of plans on key financial metrics
  • Monitor the in-year and longer-term Return on Regulatory Equity (“RoRE”) forecast and develop the model to encompass all elements of RoRE, supporting delivery of RoRE in line with expectations at year end
  • Work alongside the Group FP&A Reporting and Business Planning teams to understand our in-year financial position and future business plans and their impact from a regulatory finance perspective
  • Continuously develop and improve existing processes for automation and standardisation
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of regulatory finance to clearly and simply translate between the statutory and regulatory worlds
  • Support the wider finance and regulation teams throughout Ofwat’s price review process and act as a key advisor to the wider finance team on regulatory issues
  • Advise and guide regulated and non-regulated entities on development of their short and long term growth plans to assess the financial benefits and options, including ownership of key assumptions for business cases.
  • Contribute to the monthly rhythm of the team including commentary and analysis for the monthly financial update to our Executive Committee to support with strategic decision making.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLETo be considered for this role, you’ll need:

  • Financial qualification in ACCA, ACA or CIMA.
  • An ability to understand complex regulatory frameworks and mechanisms
  • A continuous improvement mindset with an ability to create new processes from scratch
  • Demonstrable track record of taking the lead in diagnosing business issues and delivering performance improvements, with a high level of curiosity to identify and investigate issues as they arise
  • Being able to move seamlessly between high level concepts and detailed analysis at the lowest level
  • Working collaboratively across departments to deliver a successful outcome.

In addition, you should have the ability to articulate a position and make recommendations which will enable leadership teams to make strategic decisions based on reliable and accurate information. Having the ability to build strong and credible working relationships across the organisation is a must.
