The Director of Engineering for Technology Product Development has the following job responsibilities:

  • Managing the development, validation and deployment of Office (Cloud & On-Premises) systems for Caterpillar Autonomy Applications supporting Mining & Construction segments.

  • Support & lead global teams developing & validating on-board technology systems and integration with machine applications

  • Provide Technology leadership within enterprise for expertise in work-site based systems and site applications supporting construction and mining segments

  • Supervising, recruiting, mentoring and developing a staff of over 500 Caterpillar engineers in India & Australia. This Role has direct reports in the India and Australia.

  • Executing day to day management activities aligned with strategy and business plan, including ownership of internal and external partner relationships.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical, Electronics, Robotics Engineering)

  • 15 years of product development experience in Construction, Mining (OR) Automotive segment

  • 10 years supervisory experience

  • 5 years of experience working in and leading a global team

  • Proven experience and understanding of Software Development in Cloud On-Premises based products and in Embedded Systems based technology products used within Automotive domain.

  • Understanding & Experience working in Autonomy and Automation technologies

Top candidates will also have:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or in Business Administration

  • Strong customer focus and ability to influence

  • Systems & Product experience in Construction and mining segments

  • Ability to quickly understand technology changes and drive advancement within the organization

  • Ability to understand both technology and business domains

  • Strong communication skills in particular, proven ability to communicate with a wide breadth of technical audiences, including global technology partners, internally and externally.

  • Cross functional and cross business unit experience

  • Exceptional skills managing a global execution team
