What You’ll DoIn the role of Employee Relations Specialist, your duties will include:

Bargaining and Negotiations:

  • Lead the negotiation and administration of Bargaining Agreements between the employer, employees, and unions.

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure mutually beneficial agreements that reflect the company’s objectives and meet employee needs.

  • Act as a liaison during negotiation sessions, facilitating dialogue between management and union representatives.

Workplace Relations Management:

  • Manage day-to-day relationships between the employer, employees, and unions, promoting open communication and maintaining a harmonious workplace environment.

  • Address and resolve workplace conflicts proactively, including performance-related issues, policy violations, interpersonal disputes, and compensation concerns.

  • Work with leadership to foster a positive organizational culture and resolve any disputes quickly and fairly.

Compliance and Legislative Oversight:

  • Ensure full compliance with bargaining agreements, and governing legislation such as the National Employment Standards (NES), modern awards, and other relevant employment laws.

  • Stay up to date with changes in labour laws, employment regulations, and industry standards, advising the organization on necessary actions to maintain compliance.

Employee Engagement Programs:

  • Lead initiatives to boost employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention.

  • Develop and implement programs and policies that enhance employee morale, promote a healthy work-life balance, and encourage employee feedback.

  • Track employee engagement metrics and suggest improvements to senior leadership based on data-driven insights.

Policy Development and Implementation:

  • Develop and implement company policies tailored to the needs of specific projects and employee population.

  • Regularly review and update policies to ensure they reflect current practices, legal requirements, and company values.

  • Provide guidance and support to managers and employees regarding policy interpretation and application.

Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE):

  • Demonstrate an unwavering commitment to HSSE principles, ensuring that all activities align with the company’s Zero Harm philosophy.

  • Promote a strong culture of HSSE awareness across the organization, encouraging employees to prioritize safety, health, and environmental responsibility in the workplace.

  • Monitor and report on HSSE compliance, ensuring adherence to relevant safety standards and policies.

Advisory and Support Role:

  • Provide expert advice to management on complex employee relations issues, including disciplinary actions, grievances, and workplace investigations.

  • Support managers and supervisors in handling employee performance issues, conflict resolution, and compliance with relevant workplace policies.

  • Offer training and guidance on best practices for managing employee relations and improving workplace communication.

Requirements:

  • Must be a US or Australian Citizen

  • Must possess a US Secret or AUS NV-1 Clearance.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in employee relations, industrial relations, or a related HR field, with at least 2 years of experience in a unionised environment.

  • Proven experience in negotiating Bargaining Agreements and handling complex employee relations issues.

  • Knowledge of relevant employment laws and regulations, including National Employment Standards (NES), modern awards, and industrial relations legislation.

  • Strong negotiation, conflict resolution, and mediation skills.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.

  • High level of discretion, integrity, and professionalism.

  • Ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels of the organization.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

This role will be located in Alice Springs.
