MiCT is calling for proposals for freelance Emergency Case Worker support in the framework of its program “MiCT Fellowship for Critical Voices 2024”, funded by the German Federal Foreign Office. MiCT invites interested and qualified persons to submit proposals by 18.08.2024

1. Introducing MiCT

Media in Cooperation and Transition (MiCT) is a non-profit organisation delivering expert media services in complex and challenging contexts with passion, precision and agility. Through our collaborative work with our partners, we foster transparent, inclusive and fair dialogue supporting resilient societies that thrive.

Across three continents and 15 countries, MiCT facilitates the training of journalists and media producers, programme and content development, radio and film production, magazine and book publishing, media research and monitoring, in addition to supporting the financial viability of our partners.

2. The Program

The MiCT Critical Voices Fellowship is aimed at media professionals from crisis and conflict countries who share a common value in their professional journalistic integrity. Fellows receive financial and health support, expert safety advice, online and offline training, legal and psycho-social support, production advice, and access to a global community of like-minded media professionals.

3. Description of the role

To support Emergency Fellows, MiCT is looking for a case worker to support project implementation in West and Central Asia on a freelance basis.

Deliverables include, but are not limited to:

  • Identify and support (potential) Fellows from emergency contexts, particularly focused on West and Central Asia
  • Write case profiles for Fellows and support their application
  • Coordinate support offers (relocation, stipend transfer, legal/psychological support) to Fellows where necessary
  • Manage onboarding/offboarding process of Fellows
  • Provide administrative support to project manager on a needs basis

4. Application Requirements

Successful applicants should be able to provide proof of the following:

  • Experience working with journalists in crisis and conflict contexts
  • Thorough understanding of the global media landscape, particularly in West and Central Asia
  • Fluency in English required
  • Working knowledge of languages spoken in the region (Farsi, Dari, various Kurdish dialects etc) preferred
  • Experience communicating under stressful conditions
  • Familiarity with discourse around exile and crisis journalism, media freedom and critical, non-discriminatory development communication
  • Flexible availability to respond to Fellows needs

5. What we offer

We welcome applicants globally to join our small, creative and international team. MiCT can provide safe, creative working environments in Tbilisi/Georgia, Chang Mai/Thailand, Kyiv/Ukraine or Berlin/Germany where required. Remote candidates are also welcome to apply. The contract will run until December 2024 on a freelance basis.
