  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
  • 5 years of experience in HV/MV electrical design.
  • Safe Pass certification.
  • Full, clean driving license.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and engineering software.
  • Familiarity with HV substation design (10kV to 220kV).
  • Experience with engineering software such as PowerFactory.
  • Understanding of ESB standards and practices.
  • Experience with Irish or UK standards

Electrical Design Engineer Skills:

  • Conduct engineering studies using industry-leading software (PowerFactory, CDEGs, CYMCAP), including protection coordination, load flow analysis, power quality assessments, earthing, lightning protection, insulation coordination, and dynamic studies.
  • Prepare equipment specifications and perform technical evaluations of equipment offers.
  • Consult with manufacturers to ensure equipment meets design specifications.
  • Design and develop protection and control schemes for HV/MV systems.
  • Prepare engineering drawings such as substation layouts, elevations, and lightning zones.
  • Create panel schematic drawings using EPLAN.
  • Perform on-site inspections and testing of electrical installations.
  • Ensure safety standards are met by compiling Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and on-site risk assessments.
  • Attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) for HV switchgear, transformers, and protection cabinets.
  • Contribute to tender documentation preparation, evaluation, and presentations.
  • Write and present technical reports.
