The role will lead and coordinate overall supply chain planning activities for Milton Keynes Plant and associated internal and external warehouses.Value of inventory (Finished Goods and Raw Materials) responsibility is approx. £100 mm and Outbound Freight approx. £1 mm / yearThe purpose of this job includes the following:

  • Operate and improve Sales, Inventory and Operations Planning Process along with the supporting Decision Support Tools (includes S&OP reports), conduct monthly Sales, Inventory and Operations Planning Meeting in order to arrive at a synchronized Supply and Demand Plan.
  • Manage overall Supply & Demand balances for all raw materials and finished goods and provide guidance on material and capacity allocation plan across all plants.
  • Manage overall Asset Utilisation, Capacity Allocation and Strategic Capacity Planning, including the timing to install new capacity to support the strategic growth while maintaining the optimal use of existing assets.
  • Determine optimal sourcing strategy for finished products, make versus buy, toll versus make etc. and for raw materials, optimal sourcing based on lead time, inventory holding cost and supply chain risk management.
  • Determine the optimal inventory level by item to meet the agreed service level target.
  • Manage warehousing strategy – when to use external warehousing. Ensure accuracy and timeliness of activities both internal and external – inventory accuracy and dispatch timeliness
  • Overall responsibility for outbound freight transportation – work in cooperation with Sourcing to ensure 3rd party provide best cost-effective deliveries for HBF. Maintain set of metrics that track performance of those carriers to our required service.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintain of up-to-date Planning Master Data including lead time, customer, and product segmentation, trigger point and replenishment lot sizes through collaborative efforts of regional business leaders, local S&OP Supervisors and Logistics Planners in trading entities.
  • Provision of medium- and long-term supply/ demand balances
  • Business knowledge / ownership of capability and capacity
  • Business knowledge / ownership of supply chain costs including inventory freight and warehousing
  • Responsibility to ensure an adequate forecast is supplied for each asset
  • Setting targets for service logistics cots and inventory levels and responsibility to achieve them
  • Interface with both customers and several internal functions
  • Regular review and assessment of capacities, capabilities, and performance
  • Purchasing to review Carrier performance, Raw Material and Packaging supplier performance
  • Sales, marketing and Customer Service to ensure that in the event of severe capacity shortfalls or significant abnormal demand service levels are maintained in line with business priorities
  • Manage a team of asset players, raw material planners and logistics supervisors to coordinate activities and work with them to ensure production and material handling is timed to meet Service Levels Logistics Cost and Working Capital objectives´
  • Directly responsible for 1 asset planner, 1 raw material and 2 logistics supervisors
  • Primary responsibility for Working Capital (inventory) of approx. £ 100 mm and outbound Freight Costs of approx. £1 mm

Minimum Requirements:

  • Degree level Industrial Engineering / Business Administration and Management or similar
  • Minimum 5+ years in IT driven manufacturing or planning environment
  • Planning, Logistics and MRP systems knowledge
  • Project Management and Leadership experience required
  • APICS certification preferred
  • Worked in an international environment
  • Strong analytical skills, experienced in Decision Support Modeling, and data manipulation systems
  • Very good communication techniques, presentation, and linguistics skills, able to articulate clearly and in precise language
  • Good interpersonal and collaborative skills and comfortable in working with all management levels across the organization
  • Very good prioritization, problem solving and delegation skills. Six sigma experiences are highly valued in this role.
