Here’s where you come in:
As the Director of Technical Talent and Mentoring, you will be responsible for providing the vision, leadership, and strategic direction the organisation needs to support the consolidation and reinvigoration of a structured Technical Talent and Mentoring Programme in Global Centre Disaster Management (GC DM) & global programmes & resources (GPR). You will do this by translating knowledge to action while serving all stakeholders including students, staff, alumni, and external clients.
You will also drive and ensure a coherent, organisation-wide basic foundation of key mentoring principles, approaches, and success metrics are consolidated and agreed upon by key stakeholders, condensed in service offering. You will establish an organisation-wide mentoring pool for subject matter expert/thematic leads with relevant tools and guidance resources to be utilised and leveraged by the organisations’ mentor pool, as well as leverage external inter-agency mentor and coaching partnerships. This function will combine practical and strategic knowledge and expertise to pull, document, and consolidate best practice information and data for wider organisational and inter-agency learning, and improvement of mentoring arrangements and programmes in the humanitarian and development sector.
Requirements include:
- Master’s or BA Degree in relevant field (international development, humanitarian assistance, social sciences), and recognised mentor (& coaching) certifications by international regulatory bodies for coaching and mentoring
- At least 10 years of practical multi-country/ multi-regional experience of local talent and capacity building management and facilitation
- At least 5-10 years of practical international and local capacity strengthening and mentoring experience in development and humanitarian settings at field office and/or global levels
- At least 5 years of performance measurement experience supporting country and regional level staff in an international NGO or private sector organisation to effectively grow professionally through mentorship or similar programmes
- At least 2 years of professional experience in collaboration with local and international academic institutions, colleges
- Excellent English language skills required
- The position may require the ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 35% of the time.
