We’re seeking a Director of People and Culture (P&C) with tech professional services experience to join our executive team as the head of our people practice. You will be a key member in creating a robust culture within a fun, agile, and tech-emerging company obsessed with people and new technology!

Who You Are:

We seek a P&C executive with expertise in growing fast-paced tech startups, working with founders as part of the executive team, and being passionate and expert in the full employee life cycle. This means that you get to lead and be involved hands-on in all areas of HR, including recruitment, onboarding, employee-related matters, performance reviews and career growth, and the final journey of an employee. You will work collaboratively with peers in all departments and technology, business, and finance leaders.

If you have the innate ability to connect with people and authentically share stories and values, with a great attitude and a hunger to learn and grow, then keep on reading.

What you’ll be doing

  • Expertise with the full employee lifecycle: get, keep, and grow top talent while building remarkable experiences for our staff.
  • Setting the vision and strategy and implementing the plan for performance evaluation, competitive compensation, career progression, D&I, and remote work.
  • Full-cycle technical (software engineers, designers, project and product managers) and non-technical (marketing, sales, HR) recruiting, from posting opportunities to selecting candidates. You will be an expert in our full recruitment process and ATS system (JazzHR).
  • Checking in and being in tune with our cross-functional and international talent, to keep a pulse on team satisfaction.
  • Organizing and attending virtual or in-person career fairs and job fairs.
  • Supporting various immigration routes for our current employees.
  • Supporting grants and funding for new hires if applicable.
  • Onboarding new hires in a remote setting and engaging manner.
  • Supporting the other executives and managers in personnel-related inquiries and issues.
  • Handling employee conflicts, conduct, and performance concerns diplomatically and confidentially.
  • Ensuring personnel files and documents are updated on our HRIS system (Bamboo).
  • Offboarding AEQ team members, whether voluntary or non-voluntary, sensitively and positively as their final journey with Aequilibrium.
  • Organizing and attending employee events (social, wellness, and other initiatives) that help create a remarkable employee experience remotely and in person.
  • Openness and willingness to work on various projects as the team grows and we start implementing new areas.

  • Experience as head of P&C for fast-growing Canadian tech companies, working directly with founders/CEO as part of the executive team
  • Experience in tech professional services and full cycle of the employee lifecycle: get, keep, and grow top talent from Canada and abroad
  • Strategic HR business partner with hands-on experience driving the agenda for people and culture in fast-growing tech companies
