We employ over 1,400 staff and have over 17,000 students studying Law, Criminology, Policing, Psychology, Computer Science, as well as Business and Management through our dedicated Business School.Following the successful launch of Psychology at The University of Law, we are now seeking to widen its portfolio and to expand the discipline across multiple campuses. Therefore, we are looking for a senior academic to lead the growth of our Psychology team and its portfolio of programmes. This is also an exciting opportunity to adopt and champion innovation in teaching and learning and to enrich the other disciplines offered at The University of Law, by contributing elements of Psychology to their programmes.Our Director of Psychology will lead the development and growth of Psychology at ULaw. Working with the PVC of Business and Science to attract and build an academic team for Psychology including developing programmes and appropriate teaching, applied research, and enterprise environment to support their career development, progression and promotion.The role holds overall responsibility for the development of a network of relevant employers, collaborative partners both domestically and internationally to enhance Psychology students’ opportunities and the University’s profile.Key Responsibilities:

  • Student experience, performance and outcomes for all students on Psychology Programmes and modules from registration until successful completion of the degree award.
  • Exceeding the threshold set out by the OfS with regard to continuation, completion, progression and outcomes, as set out in annual KPIs.
  • Ensuring the quality of programme materials design and assessments from the academic, employability and BPS points of view.
  • Delivering market leading programmes with continuous improvement in external metrics, including OfS/QAA/BPS regulatory criteria
  • Being responsible for the quality of the Psychology programmes and application of processes aimed at ensuring the effective management and delivery of programmes and assessment of modules in all campuses
  • Leading the Head of Psychology in the delivery of effective and dynamic management of the Programme & Student Lead roles in campuses to include the co-ordination and engagement of module leaders as a collaborative cross campus team
  • Delivering continuous improvement in all stakeholder feedback, including student satisfaction scores, employability results and NSS student survey results
  • Promoting innovation in teaching, course design and assessment, including digital and on-line delivery
  • Supporting and overseeing the production of Domestic Student Recruitment and International Student Recruitment literature in coordination with the relevant teams
  • Attending appropriate external sector events to positively promote the university within the Higher Education community and gain insights into best practice.

We are looking for individuals who are/have:

  • PhD in Psychology or equivalent
  • Level 7 degree in Psychology or equivalent
  • Fellow of the Higher Education Academy of equivalent
  • Senior Management experience within higher education with demonstrable success in influencing strategy, business and academic development
  • Management and maintenance of a programme, product or service
  • Experience of driving continuous improvement
  • Led the development of programmes through BPS accreditation and/or working as an accreditor for the BPS
