In this role, you will be instrumental in developing and enhancing software solutions while ensuring the stability and support of the company’s existing technical infrastructure. This position primarily focuses on front-end development, utilising technologies such as Java, Angular, and web-based platforms.This is a hybrid position requiring in-office attendance at our Worcester location twice a week.Key responsibilities

• Hands on delivery of software working as part of a cross functional delivery team. Advocating and implementing improvements in working practices
• Be continually aware of emerging market trends and propose and implement new technologies and industry standard techniques which enhance Open GI’s market position and technical estate
• Work as part of a collaborative, customer focussed and industry leading Development function
• Work collaboratively with our internal and external customers to provide a leading software development service
• Engage with customers in technical requirements workshops, daily stand-ups, bi-weekly demos and customer handovers
• Deliver new customer requirements as quickly, reliably, and efficiently as possible
• Contribute to a continually improving Agile software development framework
• Liaise with Business Analysts, Developers and QA’s, establishing and implementing requirements and/or the resolution of live operational issues

RequirementsExperienceEssential

• An understanding of programming using either Java, Microsoft, Web or proprietary technologies
• Experience of working on production software applications and databases
• Proven ability to implement designed solutions in conjunction with the broader Delivery team

Advantageous

• Experience of working in an agile environment
• General Insurance / financial services industry knowledge

SkillsEssential

• Demonstrable programming and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Willingness to test code and write unit tests

Advantageous

• Agile delivery skills – for example Scrum / Kanban and Scaled Agile Framework
• Proficient in Microsoft, Java and Open GI proprietary technologies
