We are seeking an experienced Delivery Effectiveness Manager to join our team in Sun Life, Ireland. This flexible hybrid working role will be based at our state-of-the-art office in Waterford, Ireland. We are looking for someone who can demonstrate skills and competencies with real-world work experience in this capacity – not just theory, courses, or an academic certification. The successful candidate will report to the Associate Director of Software Engineering.

Role Description

The Delivery Effectiveness Manager will work to apply advanced delivery effectiveness skills, tools, practices, and techniques to all deliverables. They will demonstrate advanced understanding of delivery effectiveness concepts such as: frameworks & concepts, organizing, planning, coaching, servant leading, facilitating, estimating, negotiating, problem solving, managing risk, managing conflict, and communicating. They will support multiple cross-functional product teams (squads) and serve as the Scrum Master for each of those product teams. They must be highly motivated team players with a strong desire to learn, grow, and continuously improve.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate, plan, manage, deploy, coach and/or influence advanced technology solutions that are high-quality, innovative, efficient, creative, scalable, adaptable, dynamic, fully performing and complying with all standards and best.
  • Proactively identify, decompose, and remove impediments for assigned squads, to ensure consistent velocity, predictability, and flow of work.
  • Responsible for planning, day-to-day execution, management, meetings, ceremonies, implementation, reporting and presentations.
  • Work as a servant leader accountable for establishing and coaching squad(s) on Scrum practices and share responsibility with their squad(s) for delivery of their assigned initiative, when working in an agile framework.
  • Build and expand relationships within assigned squad(s), with their release engineers, portfolio / product owners and other supporting teams in delivery of business value.
  • Responsible for tracking goals, key quality, and productivity measurements, while working with the squad(s) to continuously improve these metrics.
  • Coordinating processes between your assigned squads and the relevant teams for integration planning, bug triages, performance testing and release planning initiatives.
  • Responsible for managing all governance, reporting, and monitoring related activities as defined by the respective delivery framework being applied to work.
  • Compliance with the company’s policies and procedures for delivery and implementation.

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related fields.
  • 6+ years of experience as a Delivery Effectiveness Manager/I.T. Manager/Scrum Master in agile delivery / transformation / management role.
  • Solid data engineering, analytics, data management and IT solutions development (programming) foundation.
  • Proven ability to apply testing skills, tools/frameworks, techniques, processes, and principles to software solutions in support of defect management, diagnosis, and reporting.
  • Solid knowledge of performance testing coding best practices, and load and performance testing.
  • IT experience and strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Experience and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies and tools and working with Agile/Hybrid/Waterfall project delivery models.
  • Experienced in tooling such as MS Office, Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, and Visio/MIRO.
  • An effective communicator at all levels, in both structured and non-hierarchical, informal structures.
  • The ability to determine cause, devise solutions and problem solve independently.
  • Experience working with technical and business teams to translate internal/external business needs to drive functional and technical requirements.
  • Demonstrated time management and prioritization skills with an eye for continuous improvement.

Desired

  • Knowledge of other Agile approaches: XP, Kanban, Crystal, FDD, etc.
  • Experience working in organization shifting from traditional project teams to product teams operating model.
  • Passion for understanding new technology trends.
  • Experience in insurance and health industry is an asset.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
