Bechtel Energy has an opportunity for an experienced field supervisor to come on board as Craft Supervisor Mechanical for our Pluto Train 2 project in Karratha, WA. This is a FIFO role working 3:1 roster.

About the Project:

Pluto Train 2 is the expansion of a second LNG train at the existing Pluto LNG onshore facility near Karratha in Western Australia run by Woodside Energy. Woodside Energy is Australia’s leading natural gas producer, and Bechtel is excited to be working with this key customer to help meet the increasing global demand for LNG as a transitional energy source.

About the Role:

As the Craft Supervisor Mechanical, you will be responsible for supervising and directing operations within the Mechanical discipline.

You will ensure assigned construction operations and contractors’ performance comply with specifications and within schedules and budgets.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Perform employee reviews and identify training and development opportunities for subordinate personnel.

  • Input craft time records using established automated tools.

  • Provide leadership for safety, accident and fire prevention on the project. This includes safety orientation, preparation of safety procedures and leading Bechtel and subcontractor safety meetings.

  • Ensures the most current design document is used to complete the work and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation.

  • Provide input to quantity tracking application and report weekly installed quantities to Lead Mechanical Superintendent.

  • Plan the manpower and equipment required to execute the job.

  • perform other duties as required.

What You Bring:

  • Trade Qualification in Mechanical Fitting or Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 10+ years relevant field experience.

  • Sound knowledge and experience in the installation and alignment of both rotating and static equipment.

  • Knowledge of EPCM contract Management, and the Contractor(s) and their subcontractor’s (if applicable) responsibilities. Knowledge of construction technologies. Knowledge of supervisory functions relating to field activities. Familiarity with current industry quality standards.

  • Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H). Demonstrable commitment to a Zero Accident safety program.

  • Previous experience with the installation and alignment of GE turbine driven compressor packages and associated equipment including ducting and fire suppression systems highly regarded.

Additional Information:

This position has responsibilities that include exposure to changing environmental, construction, and operational conditions, which may include: extensive walking in and around an active construction and/or operations site, climbing ladders, working at heights from work platforms including scaffolding, and mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs), use of personal fall arrest equipment, walking and working on uneven surfaces, working in constricted and/or confined spaces, variable work shifts (e.g., day, night, weekends, 1st, 2nd, 3rd shift, etc.), and work in inclement weather. Some lifting may be required. Candidate must be able to use standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. respirator, harness, life vest, hearing protection, etc.).

The Pluto Train 2 Project is a Major Hazard Facility meaning this is a non-smoking site and no tobacco products i.e. cigarettes, vapes, lighters, tobacco – are permitted to be brought to the site.
