What’s the role?

An exceptional opportunity is available for an experienced and motivated Content Director to join the team at Qantas magazine and its digital arm, Travel Insider on a 12 month contract starting in April 2025.

Working closely with the editor-in-chief, the successful applicant will be responsible for crafting and implementing the editorial strategy for the Qantas magazine brand, creating innovative, best-practice content that will continually engage and evolve the target audience – and inspire travel.

The content director is expected to conceive, plan and produce high-quality content to deadline with a cross-platform mindset. Drawing on your strong network of industry contacts, you will seek out original and exclusive stories and develop detailed briefs in order to commission some of the country’s most respected writers. Your editing skills will be exceptional and your ability to curate compelling, audience-led content second to none.

What you’ll do

  • Manage all editorial content, collaborating with travel and hospitality providers and contributors

  • Work closely with the editor-in-chief to align content development with Qantas objectives

  • Conceptualise, commission, and produce high-quality, on-brand content that engages the audience

  • Lead the multi-channel editorial content strategy, mentoring the team to drive readership and traffic growth

  • Monitor industry trends, competitor content, and international best practices, attending events as needed for Qantas magazine and Travel Insider

Who are you?

  • Minimum 5 years of proven experience producing content in an editorial environment

  • Extensive commissioning, writing and editing experience

  • Relevant tertiary degree

  • Excellent workflow management, planning and copy editing skills

  • Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple projects

  • Exemplary client service and a willingness to exceed client expectations

  • Able to present trends and insights in a meaningful and objective way

  • Excellent problem solving and communication skills
