About InterAction
InterAction is the largest U.S.-based alliance of international non-government organizations (NGOs) and partners. Celebrating our 40th anniversary this year, we mobilize our Members to think and act collectively to serve the world’s poor and vulnerable, with a shared belief that we can make the world a more peaceful, just and prosperous place – together. Using our collective voice and convening power, we seek to shape important policy decisions and actions across a wide range of issues – including foreign assistance, humanitarian relief, development, economic equity, food security, and climate change.
Our Members are premier international global development, humanitarian, and sector-supporting organizations that work in almost every country and manage more than $15.4 billion in programs annually. InterAction’s revenue comes from dues, government, private foundation and corporate grants, and fee-for-service programs. Additional information can be found at www.interaction.org.
Position Description
Following presentation of a statement on risk sharing at the annual Grand Bargain meeting in 2021, the Netherlands, the ICRC & InterAction established a Risk Sharing Platform. This platform sought to improve shared understanding of the impact of current practices and to mobilize a diverse set of stakeholders to explore solutions that enable greater risk sharing through an evidence-based approach. In 2022, the Netherlands and ICRC commissioned a case study report that collected, analyzed and illustrated good practices of risk sharing, and in 2023 a Risk Sharing Framework was developed after five rounds of drafting. The Framework provides a basis for interested humanitarian actors to further pursue risk sharing to enable more effective delivery of support to affected people. It is not a directive tool, but rather a principled approach that can be adapted and used by actors as they see fit.
The Risk Sharing Framework can be found here at this link. There is a broad interest amongst humanitarian actors in the Risk Sharing Framework, but the existing Framework document is not user-friendly, creating a barrier to implementation.
InterAction is seeking a consultant, with a proven background in technical writing and data visualization to develop an easily digestible, visually appealing tool that will function as a public and non-technical presentation of the Framework. This consultancy is expected to take a maximum of 40 hours.
