Background information
DanChurchAid (DCA) is committed to assisting the world’s poorest communities to lead lives of dignity. Headquartered in Denmark, DCA operates through 20 Country Offices and is a member of the ACT Alliance, alongside 134 churches and faith-based organizations.
DCA seeks an experienced external consultant to provide specialized support in fundraising for development and humanitarian activities, focusing on USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA). The consultant’s efforts will focus on proposal processes during the period from March to early April. This work will be carried out in close collaboration with DCA’s Global Partnerships and Resource Mobilization Unit (GPRM), which supports DCA’s Country Offices in securing grants from institutional donors. The consultant will work directly with DCA’s Headquarters (HQ) team and Country Offices to enhance the quality of BHA funding proposals, as well as ensuring alignment with donor priorities and compliance requirements.
DCA is requesting to send an Expression of Interest (EOI), to include: Short Cover Letter (max. 1 page) and CV with a deadline of 12th February 2025 to [email protected]. We kindly ask you to include the daily rate for consultancy services in the Cover Letter.
DCA is looking for 5-10 qualified EOIs and will be reviewing submissions on an ongoing basis. Once enough EOIs are collected, DCA will progress with sending out Request for Proposal (RfP). Timely submissions of SOIs are therewith encouraged.Shortlisted Contractors will be asked to fill in a Request for Proposal within a reasonable deadline.
Contract purpose and Expected results
Overall objective and purpose:
The primary objective of this contract is to provide capacity and expert support to the GPRM Unit for U.S. funding proposals, particularly for BHA, during March and April 2025.
Results to be achieved by the Contractor:
1. High quality support to the GPRM Unit on US funding proposals.
2. Seamless collaboration with DCA HQ and Country Office colleagues, ensuring effective and efficient fundraising processes.
Scope of the Services
Provide Capacity:
- Offer technical assistance for proposal writing, focusing on BHA funding opportunities.
- Collaborate with DCA Country Offices and HQ teams during proposal development processes.
- Ensure compliance with donor priorities, guidelines, and requirements throughout proposal development processes.
TIMING AND LOCATION
- Work on a part-time basis, contributing approximately 15 days during March and April.
- The consultant will work remotely and is responsible for arranging their own workspace and equipment.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Experience:
- A minimum of 4-5 years’ experience in resource mobilization from international donors.
- Proven track record of securing funding from USAID and BHA.
- Expertise:
- In-depth knowledge of BHA policies and compliance requirements.
- Hands-on experience in all phases of project cycle management for development and/or humanitarian projects, including project design and proposal writing.
- Skills:
- Ability to analyze donor priorities and align them with DCA’s strategic focus and capabilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a commitment to professionalism, flexibility, and achieving results.
- Values:
- Demonstrated accountability and integrity in previous roles.
- Language Proficiency:
- Fluency in written and spoken English is essential.
