Hartley People Recruitment is hiring for a Construction Project Manager in Waterford.Job Description:Our client, a leading builder and developer in the Southeast of Ireland, is looking to recruit a Construction Project Manager to join their commercial project team based in Waterford. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of an established contractor working on large-scale, multi-million-euro projects.Key Responsibilities:General Management:
- Oversee the entire project lifecycle from initiation to handover.
- Lead project management activities including planning, health & safety, design management, technical submittals, and construction operations.
- Ensure adequate resources are available on-site from both the client and subcontractors to meet project milestones.
- Monitor and update project programs weekly, reporting any potential delays to senior management.
- Prepare and present monthly reports on progress, safety, quality, and financial performance.
- Develop and maintain procurement schedules in line with project timelines.
- Collaborate with the QS and Contracts Manager to define scopes of work for trade packages.
- Serve as the primary contact for stakeholders, managing communication with internal and external parties.
- Lead and mentor the project team, encouraging development and continuous improvement.
Health & Safety:
- Ensure compliance with health & safety legislation and company policies.
- Promote a positive safety culture on-site, setting a strong personal example.
- Assist in preparing and reviewing the Health & Safety Plan and address any necessary changes.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, implementing corrective actions as required.
- Ensure all safety inspections and audits are completed and signed off.
Quality:
- Implement and oversee the client’s full Quality Assurance (QA) system for the project.
- Ensure weekly QA meetings are held and minutes recorded.
- Maintain high QA standards across the site, ensuring all inspections and test plans are completed.
- Ensure early presentation of samples or sample rooms to ensure quality standards are achieved.
Commercial:
- Work with the QS to eliminate package gaps and ensure labour and materials are procured on time.
- Understand project budgets and manage financial risks during construction.
- Manage disputes and claims, resolving issues efficiently and escalating to the Project Director when necessary.
Department Responsibilities:
- Review and assess department competency and human resources needs bi-annually.
- Manage team performance, including verifying timesheets, conducting performance reviews, and addressing grievances in coordination with HR.
- Report on departmental objectives in line with the overall organisational strategy.
Requirements:
- A relevant 3rd level qualification ideally in Construction.
- Experience working within a dynamic, fast-paced project environment.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work well under deadlines and in a team-focused environment.
