Minnesota Housing is hiring! We’re a mission-focused financial institution looking for a Communications Supervisor. This position will bring a project management lens to communications planning. They support the housing priorities of the Commissioner. With an eye toward excellence, the Communications Supervisor organizes the work of the team and supports the department in consistently delivering high quality communications and marketing materials that promote the Agency’s mission, vision and goals.
Essential Job Duties
-
Bring a project management lens to the Communications department to organize tasks into projects or campaigns for maximum external impact.

Assign, direct and supervise work of communication specialists to create effective communications products in a timely manner.

Carry out supervisory duties that include hiring, performance management,budgeting and employee development.

Provide communications planning support for Agency-wide projects, including determining audience, format and language for messaging.

Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure communications best practices are incorporated into deliverables, including plain language, accessibility, branding and user experience.

Promote practices that support diversity, equity and inclusion within the Agency and in communication projects and initiatives.

Develop evaluation tools to analyze efforts and plan effectively for future campaigns.
-
Stay updated on communications and website best practices and make recommendations to align strategies and tasks with these.

Help identify and produce communications materials as needed.
-
Lead Agency-wide event coordination as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
To be qualified for and considered for this position, applicants must meet all of the minimum qualifications listed below. Five (5) years of experience in a communications or marketing role.
Master’s degree may substitute for 18 months of experience; Bachelor’s degree may substitute for one year of experience; Associate’s degree may substitute for six months of experience
Relevant degrees include Communications, English, Journalism, Public Affairs or Project Management
Demonstrated leadership experience, including at least one of the below:
Experience as a manager, supervisor or team lead
Completion of a State leadership development program, such as Emerging Leaders Institute (ELI) or Senior Leadership Institute (SLI)
Completion of a similar or equivalent leadership development program through another organization
A paid or unpaid position leading a project or program or chairing a committee, such as an Employee Resource Group (ERG). This experience must include:
1+ years of identifying issues, goals, and strategic actions and
100+ hours per year time commitment

PLUS
Experience reviewing a set of related work tasks and determine a way to organize, streamline and execute the tasks ensuring clear roles, objectives and timelines.
Experience developing staff members and fostering a positive, innovative and productive team atmosphere.
Excellent writing and editing skills sufficient to produce and review high-quality communications materials and an internal and external audience.
Experience in creating materials in a graphic design platform.
Knowledge of website principles and best practices, as well as writing for the web.
Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills.
Commitment to equitable and inclusive work on behalf of Minnesota Housing.
Preferred Qualifications
Project management certification.
Experience with copyediting, Associated Press style, document accessibility and plain language principles.
Proficiency with a website content management system, such as Oracle.
Experience managing professional social media accounts, including paid posts.
Understanding of the single-family and/or multifamily housing industry.
