Communications Specialist in Troy, New York

The successful candidate will be an integral member of a Communications Team that creates impactful products for PRA and its projects addressing behavioral health, the criminal legal system, homelessness and income supports, Veterans, and youth development.
The candidate will transform complex subjects into accessible, compelling content tailored to diverse audiences and produce various creative and technical products. This position requires strong writing and editing skills, an eye for design, and the ability to identify and implement process improvements.
This position reports to the Communications Director and will collaborate with other Communications Team members, project staff, and the IT Director.

Key Responsibilities
Content Development
Write engaging content (e.g., social media posts, media and blog articles, promotional copy) that distills complex information into clear, actionable messaging.

Edit a range of documents, including newsletters, site visit reports, and training materials, ensuring clarity, consistency and adherence to federal, Chicago, or APA style guides.
Digital Communications
Format and distribute email campaigns using platforms like Emma, targeting varied and broad audiences.
Manage and update website content across multiple sites using WordPress.
Creative Design
Design visually appealing fact sheets and social media graphics using tools like Canva and Illustrator and InDesign.
Assemble short, professional-quality videos for publication on social media platforms.
Process Optimization
Use AI tools (e.g., Copilot, ChatGPT) to identify and implement project efficiencies.
Analyze performance metrics to improve product reach and audience engagement.
Accessibility and Compliance
Review materials for Section 508 compliance and ensure all content meets accessibility standards.
Collaboration
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including project staff and other administrative professionals, to support PRA and its projects
